I agree with Jules. Some members post photos but take them down eventually. Some members don’t post photos at all. Some members do but disguise their appearance by cropping or blocking faces. I think you are in the latter category Jess? It’s all good. It’s a public forum and people participate at the level at which they are comfortable.

I have left my photos up including those of my adult children and my husband. I did ask their permission before posting them, and also everyone in the family except me has a Facebook page where they do post some public photos. If they didn’t have those I might not leave the photos available.
Given that under my real name there are photos of my face on the websites of both my workplaces, I am not bothered about these pics of me fully dressed remaining on the internet, but perhaps being “old enough and ugly enough” helps to make me feel they’re unlikely to be lifted for something dodgy! Other people are much more worried about privacy and I feel that’s their right to be.

I don't post many photos, but I may take mine down after a week or two. Yes, there are ways to get ahold of anything that was ever posted on the internet, but removing the photos makes it more difficult for someone just to stumble across something that you might not want them to see.

As for editing photos to crop out people and whatnot, that takes time, and not everyone has extra time. It's relatively quick for me on my desktop computer, but if you're working off a phone I imagine it could be labor intensive.

I'm OK with whatever people decide to do regarding removing photos. No one is under an obligation to share any photos, period, so I'm just happy to be able to benefit when they do!

Personally as someone who doesn’t share photos, I’m grateful that people share their photos at all, and how (long) they choose to do so is their business. Nobody owes us their personal photos (or time spent editing them). I also feel that if I choose to share an opinion or advice I’m doing it for my own satisfaction/interest, not as some favour to them, so they don’t owe me anything in return. It’s all free content and free will to engage or not.

I don't routinely post photos online because things like this happen (see link). The girl in this photo is my daughter on a NY trip posing under the Soup Nazis sign (Seinfeld). The photo was taken from her friends flickr page. The author gives photo credit to her friend at the end of the article....totally legal. Her friend found pictures of her and her group of friends in various articles all over the internet.....one of those Google myself moments to see what comes up. Back in the early days of the internet everyone was super security conscious. No real names, no identifying information. Now everyone posts their entire life story without regard to the fact that people ARE watching. The media routinely rips photos from Facebook if anything newsworthy happens to that person.

http://www.salvadorfigueros.co.....-clientes/

It *is* an iPhone... but I wanted a good blur tool to do things like hide license plate numbers in the middle of pics... and ok, most importantly, get rid of a twig of thyme in a food photo that looked like hair... lololol! Gross!

...but seriously, things that take work are notoriously ineffective. I don’t use FB for that reason.

I don’t understand, why put photos of friends, family, or kids up at all, crop the photos before posting if you are concerned about privacy so only you are in them. At least that seems like the easiest solution for privacy.
One hour or one week makes no difference for online privacy these days sadly if anyone wants a photo once you post it’s available on the internet forever.

I try ti remember to take photos that have family members or friends down, but I usually wait a few days. I'm very careful about other people's kids and I know that my therapist friends usually don't have or want to have online media exposure. Bad things can happen.

Oh, back to say I have a high tolerance, because I was here before there was a WWW, but I acknowledge that it could be a mistake. And frankly, wonder if I should go to confession for my contribution to web tracking. Data mining is huge. It’s amazing what can be deduced from the most innocuous data.

I don’t suppose you have to weigh it against your risk tolerance for leaving an Internet trail. Most of my family is paranoid about it. Angie and Greg are very good about privacy options, but if one is concerned, it’s best to maintain habits so as not to get forgetful elsewhere. I mean it was just in the news that the DMV is selling our personal data.

I’ve noticed a few topics where the photos are hidden by the OP after a few replies to the topic.
I don’t know the reasoning, but wouldn’t it be more helpful as a whole just to keep the photos permanently viewable for New members late to the topic to be able to look at and follow back on and see what everyone is talking about relevant to the comments for the topic?
It just seems like many will miss out seeing the fab outfits posted :(
Sometimes I notice I’ll go back to older topics to re read about the outfit or find clothing I liked only to see the photos hidden and forget what I liked or wanted to buy that I saw.
