I would wear these up to 85F, as Cerinda said. However, I run cold and am ALWAYS cold in AC'd offices; you said that you're the opposite, so I think they will be too hot for you in summer. A conclusion that you've already come to, you just need others to repeat it

These are real casual workhorses for me, so long as the temperatures are between 40 and 85F. I machine wash them --inside out, delicate cycle, gentle detergent-- and dry them flat. No pressing required. Also, they travel really well. I had them first in a woven silk, and they were pretty darn voluminous; I bought the jersey a size down and love the fit and feel.

I think "it depends".

These pants look very fun BTW. Track pant styles, of the right type, can work really well for me and I wish I could have a couple of them, or trackpant-esque ones, that stay in style and are work-appropriate.

Viscose is a type of rayon or maybe just the same thing, I'm not expert enough to be sure, so it is made from an natural material originally, but the weaves can be different amongst rayon items. So it usually feels more breathable than polyester. I have the Leith track pants, which are all poly and they would not be comfortable in August running around outside, but would work in the frigid A/C! I have some rayon or rayon blend loungewear pants I wear around the house in summer--we don't keep home A/C arctic at all, but I often like something more than shorts.

The thing will be the washability. These could be technically washable, but delicate. Hand wash or delicate. Air dry usually--heat is bad for rayons. Shrinkage is always a problem--sometimes sneaks up on you. Wrinkles can be a problem though the spandex may help that; most 100% rayon needs ironing to look its best, say, to look like it did in the store! So, you might have to iron after washing to restore the drapey look. So, if you are wearing and getting a little sweaty and thinking of freqently washing them the same way as some cotton casual chinos or jeans, they are not. But, EF does some beautiful fabrics and may have made these less fussy. Also you may be thinking of grocery store, errands in air-conditoned car and not spending much time in brutal heat, so they would be fine for that.

I love rayon shirts and blouses because they often have gorgeous color and they also drape beautifully, which lets me fit in a little ease and "fluid fit" which is truly fluid, not overwhelming, But then, if 100% rayon, they may need ironing , so I often pass them up OR look for simple styles I could touch-up iron easily, not have to do a lot of collars and cuffs and such.

Rayon and polyester blends bring in some of the downside of poly but wrinkle less.

There is a previous YLF thread on such fabrics and maybe more than one.

Hi Lady. I love winter too. I buy for winter all the time, yet I live in NC. We are not quite as hot as South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida, but to me, it is hot enough!!! I swelter. I swelter in the office too (where is that arctic air conditioning everyone talks about?).

Joy. I think this fabrication is really heavy. The description reads as a jersey. This is not a jersey by my definition. It is more of a heavy ponte knit.

I'll keep looking. I think I can make something like this work for me I just need the proper weight fabric.

I'm intimately familiar w the south. Particularly humid, stifling SC.

I think it's going to depend solely on if you normally run cool. If you do, perhaps you can get late fall, winter and very early spring out of them. If not? Probably just late fall and "winter".

I love Winter and overbought for it the whole time I lived there. I joke that the oppressive heat is why I left. ☺️

I wear some EF very similar pants in summer in hot humid Kansas, but not the hottest days unless in air conditioning and with a tank/she'll and light topper. I will have to look at the fabric content though. The fullness helps them feel cool.

As a Georgian, I'm looking at those and finding it absolutely impossible to picture wearing them in the summer. Spring, certainly, especially during the transition between winter and spring.

Step away from the carbs! Just seeing pics of your snow-covered state on the news. Stay safe. At least you still have power:-). I've been around reading when I can, but the vast majority of my "free" time has been spent purging/partial packing the house and as many fitness classes as I can fit in. I'll need to start focusing on my warm weather wardrobe soon as well, so hopefully I'll be around here more.

I'm more about the top half being cool enough in the Summer, so, in theory, something like this could work. The weight and quantity of fabric concern me though.

I have these pants - although mine are a more cropped length. Yes, there is a lot of fabric going on in front, but I like the slouchy hands-in-pockets vibe and like wearing mine. And if anyone freaks out about drawing attention to their stomach, it's moi. I wear them for 3 seasons of the year, although not on super-hot summer days, obviously.

I think you are right, Diana. These are great pants. Well made. Long enough. Great color. And the fabric would be great if summer did not dominate. I am trying to stop buying for my fantasy season (winter) and start buying for season (summer).

Thanks for weighing in Peri and Shaz. I probably knew the answer before I posted my question.

Kkards. I agree that I could wear them November through March, but I think I had summer in mind when I was buying them. I expected the weight of the fabric to be lighter. Kind of like a jersey knit. They are definitely not a jersey knit.

Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to type kkards without autocorrect trying to fix it for me.

I find that all EF slouchy pants seem to have too much fabric in front for me. I think they're cut for more apple shapes in general.

Do you think I am kidding myself? They are 95% viscose, 5% spandex. There is A LOT of fabric in the front. It is heavier and doesn't drape as well as the description suggested, but they are washable and "just" long enough. I planned to wear them casually (doing errands and hanging out at the house). I would pair them with either a long sleeve or short sleeve tee shirt and black sneakers.
