Thanks for the links. That first one has a gusset ... that could be a nice feature. And I noticed the instruction to look for 25% stretch. I suppose that means to measure the fabric "at rest" and then again stretched to check for the increase. Laura, good advice about the two seams and up-sizing. I think I will size up especially to avoid too much shrinking.

I used McCall's 5394 to make a pair of pant liners a year or two ago - according to their website it's now out of print though available online. I wouldn't recommend it as my first choice, actually, as it's a one-seam pattern and I think you get a closer fit for something like leggings with two leg seams.

If you look through the pattern catalogs you should be able to find some leggings. I know I've seen some new patterns recently what with all the 80s redux happening.

Keep in mind that wool jersey may have less stretch than they're expecting, so you might want to go up a size or two. Oh, and not to dissuade you, but you'll need at least a yard and a half of 60" wide material, maybe more depending on how tall you are, so it might not be as much of a savings as you expect. Custom fit, however, has no price.

I'd love to make some leggings, using some wool jersey. Its lightweight, stretchy ... does need to be dyed first. Do you have a pattern for leggings that you recommend?

Since reading Laura's suggestion to wear wool tights, dresses and boots in the winter, I'm so excited to try it. But wool tights are expensive. I do have a pair of SmartWool long underwear, but this wool jersey was only $12/yard, so I think I can make some leggings for less than $20!
