Runs With Scissors, I'm a gardener, so my work-clothing needs are, um, abnormal. Canvas work pants, jeans with double-layered knees, overalls. They fit me really well, but they're not, well, for everyone.

Inge, the Theresa jeans look exactly right..........I might have to stalk that page hoping light gray comes back in!

Elizabeth, thanks for the EF detective work!

Hoping one of these ends up being the right color/fit for me. Next time I find the right pair I'm buying 3. :)

I recall some of our forum members mentioning that Talbot's jeans work well for curvier figures. They do not currently have gray skinnies, but they do have something in a slim boyfriend cut (cloud wash). Might be worth checking on them from time to time to see if they eventually have skinnies in this same cloud wash.

I happened to remember the color name of my light NYDJs -- Upson. And I think my pair must be the Nichelle style, not Clarissa, but I struggle to find the difference between some of the NYDJ styles anyhow. Couldn't find any for sale other than in Petite, but just in case, Find below so you can see the color.

Our fit problems sound very much the same! I have a long rise, and a long (and also low) posterior. I couldn't get Levis Curvy fit to work for me -- too much fabric in the hips. But Demi Curve wasn't curvy enough. I gave up on Gap years ago because their denim would "grow" two sizes over the course of the day, but maybe I should look again. Never tried Duluth Trading Co, so that is one for me to check out.

I'm very happy with the Theresa light grey jeans I got at Violeta (Mango) earlier this year. They're no longer available, unfortunately, but new colours in that style seem to come back regularly, so probably worth to check back. They have another style, Valentina, in a light grey (perhaps not light enough?) at the moment. I have no experience with that style, but could be worth a shot too?

Almost all my jeans are NYDJs. :) It's such a great brand and it fits me SO well. Sadly, all their grays are either too clean-looking (like a dyed twill rather than a faded denim) or darker than I want. :/ Other brands I wear that fit me well: Levis (I used to wear the Bold Curve when they had it, now I forget the name of the cut but it's a curvy cut), Gap (some cuts, sometimes. Most of my cords are Gap), City Chic (a size 10+ brand), Eddie Bauer (was my go-to for years but I feel like they have gotten inconsistent), Duluth Trading (mostly for work clothes but their stuff fits really well).

Lee, Land's End, and Kut are all cut too straight for me, the times I have tried them. It makes me SO SAD because they often have stuff that's awesome. I think the problem isn't so much my waist/hip with a lot of stuff as the distribution: I have a big round bubble butt and a flat front, so I end up with loose-in-front, tight-in-back jeans with a heck of a waist gape if I'm not careful. It's a much harder fix than just taking in the waist.

I have a little stash of places to check on, though! And maybe I'll try a pair of the darker gray ones and see how I feel about them.

Re: shoes to wear with grey jeans. I have a lot of different shoe colors. I think they look very tough/tomboyish with black of any kind (esp. when I wore them with my black Frye boots), but I also wore them with light blue nubuck ("Ocean Fish" Atheist Shoes), with purple sneakers, and with my soft distressed taupe monkstrap oxfords. I thought that would NOT work at all but it did -- much softer vibe, good with a striped shirt.

Gosh, I miss those darn jeans.

I'll second NYDJs -- pretty much the only jeans I wear besides Levis 501 for women (which definitely require a belt). I'd never calculated my waist-hip ratio, but mine came to .68, so maybe similar? The Alina and Clarissa styles usually work for me, and I have Alinas in "Fall Rock" in finds below. I also have Clarissas in a very light gray that might be more the shade you're looking for, but wasn't able to spot them on Amazon (which doesn't mean they are not there ... they have a ton, and at a mystifying range of price points too). Wish I could remember the color name -- that would be the key to finding them in search!

I really enjoy my light gray jeans from Lands End. I'm an hourglass size 16-18 depending on brand. I'm a 16 in LE. They fit a little closer on the leg on me than on the model, but are flattering.
http://www.landsend.com/produc.....514?sku_0=::1OJ

Another brand that fits my voluptuous figure well is NYDJ. No gray from them yet in my wardrobe, but I like the ones I have.

If I didn't have light gray jeans in my wardrobe, I'd be desolate. I wear them all the time.

Please let us know what you find!
I also really love light gray curvy jeans and am keeping my eye out for the next pair.

I would add these suggestions to my search.

I hear that it's an easy tailoring job to take the waist in for pants.
I have never tried this because I've been able to find what I need in 'curvy' fits.

In the past, I've gotten nice light gray jeans in the 'curvy' fit styles at Ann Taylor, NYDJ brand at Nordstrom and I think Talbots.
Angie has written a wonderful guide for jeans fitting for curvy figures:
http://youlookfab.com/2016/01/.....y-figures/

I've never tried this, but it has crossed my mind to try to lighten jeans by washing with some bleach. Something to keep in mind if that dark gray pair goes on sale.

Good luck!

PS: If you don't mind, what kind of shoes do you style light gray jeans with? Thanks!

Have you tried Kut from the Kloth brand? I am a size 16 (hourglass figure) and find they work well for me. They have the Mia Slim Fit Skinny in a light gray wash. Here is a link -- included picks below:

http://www.kutfromthekloth.com.....10249.html

I have had some success with Old Navy (Rockstar cut) and usually size up on that particular style as I do not like a leggings type fit.

Additionally -- You could look at Lee Revolutionary Skinny Jeans. JCPenney carries them. I believe they go up to size 18.

Last year I bought 4 pairs of light gray and blue-gray jeans at the Gap! I don't know whether they are still available, but I've found them very comfortable and useful--in fact, the first pair I bought immediately made sense of my mixed-up wardrobe by filling a hole I hadn't been aware of. With these jeans, all my cream, pastel, and gray tops became coordinated outfits. Hope you find the gray jeans that work for you.

Mochi, sadly, I am just out of Joe's Jeans size range.

Eddie Bauer made my old ones, Laura! Their current line has dark grays but no lights, at least not in cuts I can wear. I'll check the other two places -- thanks!

Janet, the BR ones I tried on in-store but they do not fit. I was hoping, even though BR rarely fits me correctly, but same problem as always -- waist gap and butt-flattening. (I have a large rear that is the bane of my pants-fitting existence.)

chewyspaghetti, I will look at Old Navy. I'm not super-fond of their denim quality but I miss having gray jeans in my rotation! I still have my old ones and sometimes wear them around the house, but they are way too shabby for public.

I have a pair of light gray jeans from JC Penney's Liz Claiborne line; I think I bought them last year. Also a darker gray pair from Eddie Bauer, which would be a place to check for sure.

I'd also check Violeta (Mango's size 10+ line, available online only in the US) and Banana Republic, if they fit you, but their non-basic colors tend to rotate so they may not have a light gray right now. Oh, and J Jill - they do gray often.

Angie's pussy bow post made me remember I've been looking for a replacement for my light gray jeans for ages. My old faithful pair that I wore to death I got on clearance sale, only pair left in my size, and the manufacturer doesn't make anything similar anymore.

The Caslon pair in the finds is just what I want, except Caslon's waist/hip ratio is too high for me (mine is below a 0.7; theirs is just about an 0.8). Very uncomfy to wear, which breaks my heart.

I'm borderline plus size, to make it even more annoying.

If anyone has any leads, I am all ears!
