I would treat them basically like you would a microcheck pant as far as styling and see if that makes a difference. My vote would be for a longer top--charcoal or black knit or fine sweater--topped with a cropped jacket. I'm thinking something with a zipper rather than buttons for a little edge. And I can see one reason not to wear plaid just from the photo: every line in the pattern adds bumps and bulges that aren't really there. </p>
