Fab outfits Patience! I especially love the last one and the coral coat, as others have said. It's nice to see so many moms on here with great figures. It gives me hope for the future, since I will probably be a mom in a year or two.

Marianne-- thanks-- I hope you will post pictures too. I find I am very particular about my shades of red. I think what's in the picture is the only red I have in my closet but I do like it.

I feel like a burden has been lifted-- more bottoms than tops for me.

Ah ha! Many of the rectangular body types that I work with happen to have wardrobes full of bottoms and lack tops! It’s absolutely fine to collect jeans and bottoms Patience. Mix it up that way instead.

Patience, thank you so much for posting the photos! It's especially great for me to see them since I have a very similar coloring and body type (and clothing style). I never figured out how to wear red, but your pictures are very inspiring! BTW I also tend to own more bottoms than tops.

Patience, Angie suggested the possibility of having a few tops and wearing them with lots of bottoms in her post about duplicating items. You could probably do that and it would work fine if you're less of a top person than bottom person. Here's a link to the post:

http://youlookfab.com/2008/02/.....ttlenecks/

Hmmm, rectangle is explaining more and more as I think back. I've always had a penchant for tucking. I love funky belts. I would collect jeans if I could afford it. Now this brings up a question I've always believed that generally you have a few bottoms in your closet and a lot more tops. Given my druthers, I'd have a few tops and more bottoms but I've always thought this was plain wrong and definitely not economical. Could I potentially approach my wardrobe this way?

Patience! You have great style. You have done SO well venturing out into colour. To Ana’s point, a modern classic that pushes the fashion envelope from time to time is a fab look. You have instinctively completely succeeded despite your hesitance. Fantastic.

You’re definitely rectangular. This explains why you like to tuck shirts into pants!

You're right, Ana. I guess I just have my moments of lower confidence when I just feel like blending in. In general, I have a good amount of self confidence but maybe fashion is one area I feel less confident about. The choices can be overwhelming. YLF is definitely helping me get beyond that. I think several members have expressed this in different ways and here we are helping each other to feel confident about our fashion choices.

As far as rectangular body type, maybe what proves it is that I haven't really been consciously applying the rules for any body type because I wasn't convinced about which one I was. I know certain things to avoid and then I go by how a piece looks when I try it on.

BTW, Julia, the necklace was from White House Black Market but they are pretty similar.

Patience, thanks for posting pics, it's always so fun to see everyone's style. Love your colors!! I like all the outfits, and LOVE the red/coral jacket. Also love the lime green one, and that's a real cute cardi on the second picture. Very nice set!!
The only little suggestion I have is to pick a more fitted top with the lime green jacket; the white one you're wearing on that photo seems pretty loose and I think one that's more shaped at the waist would look sleeker under the jacket.

Patience, you made some great choices with your ventures into color. And the jeans were an excellent score.

I agree with Angie that I think you have a rectangular body shape. Even though you didn't realize that, you still have been dressing really well for your shape--you must have a naturally good eye for what fits.

I also know what you mean about being torn between two styles. I like classic and conservative pieces, but I also like lots of crazy funky stuff. I think you have blended the two styles well, because you've chosen more classically designed pieces--a trench, a little zip up motorcycle jacket, etc--but then you've bought them in a punchy, stand-out color for interest. I love doing this, and I think it's one of the easiest ways to incorporate these two styles. Another way is through accessories. You could choose a more conservative outfit, but then add some "statement" shoes or a bag or a necklace (or earrings since you prefer those). Does this make sense?

Well done!

Thanks, everyone. You have made me feel good.

Ana has found the Kenzie jacket. I did get it at Nordstrom. The green one too.

Nicole, the red top is actually mesh. Also, I agree about more necklaces. Actually, I wearing earrings in the other pics which you just can't see. I've only started wearing jewelry in the last 6 months and I'm very careful about my choices. I've decided I'd really prefer to have a few great versatile pieces than a bunch because otherwise I'd feel very overwhelmed. I'm still learning to accessorize. I'm also more of an earring girl than a necklace girl, but that is balancing out.

The skirt is actually supposed to sit a bit higher on my waist and then I think the length is fine. Unfortunately it is a bit loose and slips down despite the fact that I've already had it taken in once.

My favorite jeans are also the ones with the red jacket. They are Joe's Jeans, cigarette (low rise though) which I got a deal on them at bluefly. I now feel very lucky to have scored them.

Angie, I have been thinking I was hourglass tending to rectangle since my thighs actually are quite full (pants always fit here first), but maybe you are right. I do like my straight leg jeans and belted trenches. I'll keep posting pics and maybe it will be more clear. I will have to reread your post on rectangles. I must admit that the blazer look is most closely aligned with my style and the coral and green jackets are this season's ventures into color. I find that there is a tension in my sense of style with two opposing desires-- one to be conservative, streamlined and nondescript and the other to wear stand out pieces.

You look fab, Patience! Thanks for posting your pics. You have got your look down and I can’t agree more with how great the coral Kenzie jacket looks (it is Kenzie right?) Your colour combos are refreshing and the blazer look at the end with the red top and heels is my favourite. Sophisticated, polished and chic. Great poise!

I’d have said you’re rectangular in body shape. Would you agree? You were made for straight leg jeans and look fantastic in them. Well done!
