I have the opposite problem Angie. I like my sweater dresses to be short so I can wear them over skinnies and leggings, but they are all too long for that. The one I just got is the perfect length, if only it weren't so baggy.

I have my eye on this one but it's likely going to hit at the knee: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com.....038;color=

I've never tried this with a piece of knitwear. It’s worth a bash, Maya. The tape works well on wovens. Keep us posted.

It’s interesting that my sweater dress challenge is also length – nothing is quite long enough and I’m only regular height. I was fortunate to score a fab sweater dress last season. I love it. Wish I had another one. They make for a fably easy an uncomplicated stylish ensemble option. Hope you score too.

It might work. I am a little concerned about the texture of the knit making the bond unstable. Also make sure that the tape you get does not feel stiff after applied. Ofcourse it would be wise to talk to the sales clerk at the fabric store and then experiment on an old item. Brilliant idea though since hemming knits with a needle and thread would probably bring less than great results.
I know the bonding sheets used for applique are improving all the time.

Has anyone ever tried those hemming tapes they have at fabric stores? Basically you just fold the garment to the right length, put the tape on, and iron it for a permanent bond. I think I'd still prefer sewing where possible, but for something like a sweater dress, which I can never seem to find in the right length, I thought this might work.
