I just bought some cords in Ultra tall from jcp. I never shop there but stumbled upon them. They are 8.00 right now and come in many colors tall and ultra tall. They are great for a casual Jean alternative. For 8 bucks I figure I can tolerate the lower quality. I have j crew cords in long as well. My dress pants are all j crew talks and I love the fit and quality. They are lined and a 4 season lovely wool.

I commiserate. I need a 36" inseam with my flat shoes and longer for anything else (and I am only 5'8"!).

I don't have anything to add except that if you like a bootcut jean, hit the western wear store nearest you or order online. Brands like Wrangler, cruel girl, and many more all carry inseams in 2" increments up to 38 or 40. The also carry longs or x-longs which are 36" and 38" respectively. Nowdays most styles are a low or mid rise (you can still get a higher rise though) in a stretch moderate bootcut. They have fits cut for both straight and curvy figures and they are some of the only jeans I don't have buttcrack or gaping problems with since they tend to have a higher rise in the back.

My frustrations led me to start up a blog about tall fashion, http://www.tallook.com/. On there I have a page of several stores that carry tall pants: http://www.tallook.com/stores/.

My favorites are Ann Taylor, Gap, Long Tall Sally, and JCrew. If possible I always try them on in the store and then by the talls online.

I hope that helps!

I am also tall (5'10") with very long limbs. I need 35" inseam for flats and longer for heels. I rarely find pants with which I can wear more than a 2 inch heel, so I save my higher heels for skirts and dresses.

You've already gotten some excellent suggestions, but I will add a few (some from personal experience and some I've heard from others).

1) Eddie Bauer also has tall sizes and they have much more modern styles than they used to. The talls are only available online or through their catalog, but if you call from their store (try on the regular there and then order the tall), you get free shipping!

2) With the Gap long lengths, I often take down the hem allowance (often up to 2 inches) for extra length. You can do that with their tall (or extra-long) lengths as well for even more length, but the longer length is only available online and you'll have to pay shipping (sometimes they have free shipping or you can get it if you order more items).

3) Many of the premium denim lines run very long. I've had some luck with Paige, Hudson (although their styles skew young for me), and some Seven styles (the Ginger is a good one).

4) Check hem allowances when shopping. Many trousers have quite a lot of extra length to be had if you take the hem down. I have a tailor who does so much work for me that she gives me excellent prices. Of course, if you learn how to do it yourself, all the better!

One extra tip regarding skirts and dresses, which often are far too short on me! I have gotten maxi-length items and had them hemmed to my desired length. That way, it's my choice how long I want something to be! And with the new midi length, many maxi skirts and dresses will end up being that length on us anyway!

Hope this helps.

my clients have had good luck with victoria's secret pants since they come in 32, 34 and 36 inch inseams. banana republic is another retailer that typically works well (as others have mentioned).

j brand jeans are also good!

For jeans, try Paige, especially the Hidden Hills cuts. I'm not very tall but need a 34" inseam to wear any kind of heel, which I do often. My Paiges are the first jeans I've ever had to hem!

The ladies have all given great advice. You may want to try on pants from various retailers and see which brands work best for you. I think that sometimes certain brands may work better on certain body types (rectangle, hourglass, etc.), so once you get that sorted out it should be relatively smooth sailing.

In the meantime, welcome to the tall girls club on YLF. Let us know if you find some great new pants!

Oohh, I feel your pain! I am 6'2, short-waisted. I HATE the pant problem. My solution is wearing a lot of skirts. My inseam is 36, but realistically, if I want to wear heels with ANY kind of heel and still maintain perfect pant length, I need a 37 or a 38 inseam. I have had some luck with jeans: Hudson and J Brand have some good longer length options, but pants are such a problem.

I find J.Crew's tall sizes to rarely be actually 36 inches when actually measured, and, thus, too short for me. I haven't shopped at the Gap in a long time, so can't say.

Have you tried Long Tall Sally? They offer many inseam lengths, good quality clothes.
http://us.longtallsally.com/

I am in Canada, and in Toronto, there is a store called Long Legs. They have a website: http://www.longlegs.ca/

http://www.tallclothingmall.com/

Good luck!!

I have a 34 inch inseam and have had good luck at Gap and Banana Republic. If they aren't available in store you can at least check the fit in store and order the tall's on-line. I have found the Tahari brand is long enough off the rack and have found them at Nordstrom, Macy's and even tjmaxx or Marshalls from time to time. Classiques brand runs long too. Hope that helps.

J. Crew, Banana Republic, Gap and Ann Taylor offer tall pants. Not all of their pants are offered in the tall sizes, but there are many options. I believe Gap also has an "extra long" version. You're going to have to spend some money to get quality tall pants. Unless you hit a sale, you're looking at the neighborhood of $75 on average.

I am a 6' tall hourglass shape and am disproportionately legs. I have a very short and small waist and am struggling to find work pants and jeans. I have lost 125lbs and honestly just don't know where to shop. NY&Co has tall pants, but they are so cheaply made I hate to purchase them. I would love some suggestions on where I might hunt down the elusive well fitting tall pant!
