Jules, Cindy and Gigi — thanks for these suggestions. I will check them out. And apologies for not responding more quickly. As much as I’d love to check the forum during the week, I can’t see to find the spare minute. Jules what a funny story!! You might ask the BFF to be more specific next time. Cindy if the fabric works for Texas, it should work for AZ, good to know! Gigi — years ago I had a pair LL Bean pjs that really lasted.

For winter use, men’s flannel pjs can be a cheaper and better quality option than what’s out there for women. With respect to Bedheads, the quality of the expensive cotton ones looks great when I’ve seen them in store. But they also have a downmarket brand sold on Amazon that is knit polyester, just something to be aware of (before your BFF tells your husband you want their PJs for Christmas and he orders the wrong ones, ahem).

I have a nice pair of woven flannel PJs from L.L. Bean (for winter). I've had them for several years, and they are still in good shape. They're very warm.

Target has some woven sleepwear options in a fabric that I can totally get behind. Some sort of lyocell or tencel or something, works for me in the texas heat

Laura and elpgal, thanks for the JCrew suggestion, their poplin pjs look lovely. JCrew had fallen off my radar since my local store closed down.

Christina, I’ll check Gap in person next weekend.

Rachylou and Roberta, you are wise to invest in quality sleepwear, that’s my goal this year. Buy high quality pieces that will last.

Roberta — I’m with you on the little bears; there seems to be a preponderance of childish prints on women’s pjs. My second grader might like the little bears, but they are not quite right for me.

Angie, Roberta and Xtabay, thanks for the suggestions of things I can get at Nordies. We don’t have a Nordstrom either, but returns are easy at the Rack.

Extabay — I’m going to try the Papinelle.

I have two sets of Natori pajamas that I looooooove. I was very happy to find them in dark colors, since I'm not keen on little bears or whatever. No offense to little bears. I also prefer satin because I am a restless sleeper and seem to get snagged in my sheets otherwise. But I also have a knit nightgown that I love - who can explain sleep habits? I got my Natori sets at the Rack, where the prices are much reduced.

I wear pajamas and nightgowns for YEARS, so I don't mind paying a higher price for them upfront.

Hi Avicennia -- the Papinelles are of woven material. I got a silk/cotton pair, and a couple of cotton ones. It's a very light fabric, perfect for warm weather. I bought one pair from Nordie's and the others at the Papinelle website. I really like them!

Thanks for the suggestion Janet. I agree that synthetic and viscose are too hot in summer, and just not breathable in general. And for some reason I feel tangled up in stretchy knits. And I’m a still sleeper. It doesn’t make sense even to me, but it is what it is. Bedhead looks promising!

Bedhead makes some good ones, and yes, I need to note the “poplin” term as well! I can’t wear flannel or warm pj’s anymore, I get too warm at night.

These days there seem to be too many viscose or nylon options.

What a good suggestion to search for poplin, La Pedestrienne! Thank you. I looked at the Boden site and unfortunately, it doesn’t specify if the cotton is woven or knit.

Laura, I was unfamiliar with the the Vermont Country Store. It seems to have good options and the website helpfully specifies whether the fabric is knit or woven. Thank you!

Pants should be pretty easy- I see flannel and poplin options at a lot of places. Do you want a traditional ‘pajama top’ silhouette for the top? I see them nowadays more in satin than in poplin, and yes, in knits too. I’d check Garnet Hill and maybe places like Vermont Country Store.

Welcome back!

I have cotton poplin pj shorts from Boden that I really like. I think they offer matching shirts, too. They stock the poplin in the summer and do a brushed cotton/flannel version in the winter.

After 6 years, this is my first post on the forum!

Angie’s post about Basics from over week ago prompted me to replenish my bras and undies — I simply reordered what has worked for me before. But I’m now stumped by sleepwear. For the last year I’ve looked for WOVEN pajama top and bottom sets. Online it’s hard to tell if fabric is knit or woven. Ideally I’m looking for a quality summer (modal or thin cotton) set and a heavier winter set. I’m also open to silk, although I’ve never tried it. I saw that Xtabay recommended Papinelle, but I can’t tell from the Nordies site if it’s woven or knit.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!
