So I tried wearing the smaller size for awhile and there was no change. I washed and dried the larger size and they definitely got smaller though not as small as the next size down. They're off getting hemmed now! Thanks again for the help.

Funny I just had the same dilemma as you with a pair of 100% cotton high-waisted wide leg jeans. The smaller size looked fine but was tight sitting, the next size up seemed to look fine but felt much better sitting, so I decided to take my chances on the larger size, I think it will be okay even if they relax a bit, or shrink a tad. I guess time will tell. Hope it goes well for you.

Hmm, I don't usually dry my clothes (just like Angie advised us recently!) but maybe I should take the larger size and wash them and throw them in the dryer... If they don't shrink then I can have them taken in, as Angie said. I'm remembering now that I used to buy my 501's longer than I wanted so they'd shrink. But of course this is a fade wash so they might not shrink in length ....

But first, I think I'll wear the smaller pair around for a bit though to see how they react.

Thanks for the good advice, fabbers!

I would go with the larger size Nadya, and have the waist taken in.

I wear 100% cotton jeans a lot. They don't bag out in my experience. In fact, they can get smaller!

Cotton denim does give after a bit of time on the body. In fact, it doesn't take too long. Usually after I put them on out of the wash, they have stretched within the first hour. If you have both pairs at home, the best would be to try them on for an hour, especially sitting, and see.I don't have experience with JCrew jeans, though. My 100% cotton ones are Levis.

I think it depends on where the jeans are tight. My 100% cotton JC jeans stretch out very minimally - sometimes they feel like they're getting smaller TBH with washing and drying. The place they don't stretch is in the rise.

Help! I haven't bought 100% cotton jeans for a looong time. I love these J. Crew high-rise jeans. One size is tight - they feel fine and look fine standing up but when I sit it's not comfortable. The next size up is a bit loose at the waistband and slouchy; they're just slouchy enough which means if they stretch they'll be TOO slouchy. J Crew says they have zero stretch, but I have a vague memory that 100% cotton jeans do stretch some with wear.

Fabbers - what do you recommend? Has anyone bought 100% cotton denim from J. Crew and can speak to their experience?
