Tulle, I used to use Remmel cosmetics version of that type of mascara. Haven't seen any in a while, thanks for pointing me to an alternative!

I agree completely with LisaP about expensive mascara: it's much more important to replace mascara often than to have a designer brand. I buy drugstore products and splurge on Chanel lipsticks! That said, if you're not one who looks best in black mascara (and it sounds like you could use something less high-contrast) it can be hard to find brown or charcoal mascaras at the drugstore. I would love to find charcoal mascara, but mostly compromise with black/brown, off-black, or brown layered with navy (also tricky to find, but great with blue eyes). For skimpy lashes, I recommend L'Oreal's Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara. If you've never seen this, it consists of a white thickener applied first, followed by a coat of the darkening mascara. Definitely fattens up your lashes, and the removal is crazy easy--just splash with warm water and all the little "tubes" come off in a fascinating way. I've had bad reactions to mascara removers, so I love this stuff. And do you know the trick of bending your mascara brush at a right angle (just under the brushy part) as you pull it out of the tube? Much easier to apply that way, and then you bend it straight again when you return it to the tube.

Ilia Limitless Mascara, more for lash lengthening than volume. Two daughters, both contact lens wearers think it's excellent, stays on, doesn't flake, comes off well too, and it's cruelty free.

That's as close as I can get to a personal recommendation because I don't actually wear mascara myself.

I second trying a primer for lashes - I was skeptical but tried it and glad I did. It makes the mascara go on faster and my lashes seem longer and healthier since I started using it. I have been using the Chanel primer and blue mascara. The blue mascara is dark blue (not like the scary blue mascara from the 70’s) and seems softer than black for my lighter complexion and eyes.

I have lashes similar to yours, and mine are sparse from thyroid disease to boot. I have found this ritual to work well:

1. Brush lashes
2. Curl lashes
3. Apply Lancôme lash primer (white)
4. Apply a mascara with a long thin brush.

I tend to also have the problem where mascara will run. The primer not only thickens the lashes but also prevents this.

Some brands I have been lucky with:
Lancôme
Tarte
Blinc

Honestly, I still haven't found much that will beat Maybelline Great Lash, in terms of bang-for-the-buck. I often wear Diorshow because I like the brown color better than Great Lash's, but it's about 4x the price.

I swear by Too Faced “better than sex” mascara. I love that it thickens the lashes and it’s very buildable— if you want a dramatic look you can definitely get one with this stuff. For everyday wear I just use one swipe.

https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....air-lashes

I asked a similar question a while ago.i ended up trying the Origins Fringe benefits recommended by 3style and quite like it. It stays on but comes off in the shower. I have it in black and brown.

The most important thing is the brush. I have saved a very narrow spoolie from I think Lash Discovery from Maybelline (also pretty good, but only in Black now) and take a little of the main brush to apply to Lower lashes.

I am going to try IT Tightline Mascara next time I see it. Tiniest brush I have found.

Tinting is great but it only lasts a few weeks for me. My lashes are short, sparse and “clear”.

I have medium thickness lashes and I am not concerned about making them look longer. They are very blonde. I really like Lancome Hypnose and Monsieur Big mascara. I also only wear black because brown disappears on me.
I always wondered why different mascaras worked so well for some people and not for others. I think some of it depends on your eye shape (what brush works best for you), what look you like, how thick your lashes are to begin with, etc.
I would try a few drug stores brands. A lot of people I know like Cover Girl or LOreal.

I'd recommend a tint and lift too. Great for non-makeup wearers, As for actual mascara - I decided it's not worth spending $$ on as a tube gets replaced every couple of months. I have yet to find a luxury brand that's any better than your standard Cover Girl etc. It's all in the brush.

I have very pale lashes. They are also thin and short. I'm tired of trying different mascaras hoping I get lucky.

I don't need over the top lashes. My hair, skin, and eyes are too pale to support some long, thick, dark lashes. When I buy false eyelashes, I buy the wispier versions in the brown color spectrum. However, even with false eyelashes on top, I would still need something for the bottom.

Anybody have any recommendations? Drugstore brand, sephora brand, ultra brand, Luxury brand (NAS would be a good time to stock up).... price range is almost completely irrelevant since I don't wear makeup at all most days

Thank you for your help!
