So fab to see you post, Tanya -- welcome back and hope you are feeling better!!

I am not one for advice here but I am grateful for your thread as I am also hoping to try this formula and will need some assistance to make it work given my own proportions.

Angie, thanks for the "heads up" on the tan Topshop bootie -- those are adorable although I don't think that's the best color for my current wardrobe. Topshop seems to have several higher shaft booties -- but the heal on some are a bit higher than what I am wanting.

Tanya, you are making progress. I agree that you are sorted on the first pair of jeans (those silver boots are cute!). I agree with you that the second pair of jeans (darker wash) could use shortening just a small bit.

I prefer the second and third pairs. I am having issues with cropped pant lengths so am as far as an expert as one can be but I like the second pair at the length they are now.

It is really nice to see you back Tanya. I am sorry to hear you have been ill again and hope you are on the mend.

I find pants length hard so won't offer my advice, but wanted to just say hi, and lovely to see you post. I hope things look up again soon, it sounds like a hard time.

This trend seems like you do need the components to all line up. I do have a perfect pair of boots for it, but not the jeans. I look forward to trying though at some time.

Thank you very much ladies, your input is very appreciated. ( Angie, I am very grateful for your help, but please rest your poor wrists).

I am glad to see that at least the first pair of jeans is sorted.

The second, Express, pair, is giving me the biggest headache. Compared to the photo of Angie wearing them, on her they look shorter ( which makes sense, since she has longer legs ), and Angie's booties are more fitted at the ankle. I obviously can not change the fit of my back booties. I don't envision finding other pair of dark booties that would fit correctly, either; so it seems that I have to make them work with the current booties and/or the tall suede boots in #6. I will probably end up shortening them a little, perhaps to length in between those in #4.

Since the eggplant booties would not work with the cropped kick flare look at all, I guess I will have to figure out the footwear for the eggplant jeans first before shortening them.

This stuff is tough and rough :(

I like the Express jeans a little shorter, as shown on the right side of picture 6. On picture 4 they look shorter and less bell-ed.

I love the idea of shortening the eggplant pants that match your boots! I would hem them not as long as on the left, but not as short as on the right on picture 7. Maybe just a half inch longer would look good to me. Or ignore me and keep them that length IF you think the pants will loosen up over the day. I can't tell you how often I forget about this and the pants hang an inch longer at the end of the day. Resulting in unwelcome stacking/bunching or dragging for example.

Hi Tanya, good to see you back in the mix. I have no answers or strong opinions (yet) but just wanted to say that I, too, am very intrigued with Angie's new cold weather formula. I, too, have skinny ankles (and low volume feet) and I have spent the better part of this weekend searching for high shaft booties that might fit (I don't want too high of a heal but some). I have ordered the Reports that Angie feature but after wearing them around the house I feel they may bother a slight bunion I have on one foot so I've ordered the next size up. I just don't think they are going to work for me.

As for the length of the pants, *on me* it seems that if they are just barely above the ankle bone they can just look like "floods". But if they are 2-3 inches above the ankle they seem more intentional and fashionable. I haven't located the pant either. I missed out on the Express dark wash one's that you have (which I like) but have the light wash on order. (This further complicates things given that I feel like I have a better chance of finding the higher shaft booties in a dark color which I would prefer with a darker wash jean). But, I'm pondering buying a petite length boot cut and hemming them.

Arrghh. It's complicated *but* if I can find the pieces (and that's a big if!) I ***love*** the look and, most importantly the practicality of being able to ***wear socks*** and not feel like I need to have that bit of skin showing with the rolled boyfriends and bootie look (I run cold and it's rare I want to do that!).

Anyway, I have faith you will get it worked out. I will watch and learn! I hope Angie will way in as well. Lastly if ***anyone*** can find a good lower healed tall shaft booties that will fit narrow ankles, please advise!

Good to see you post again, Tanya. Miss you SO much.

I have to be quick because my arm is sore, but I wore the Express cropped kick flares to the gathering yesterday, which might help you with proportions - see pic below.

#1 and #2 look great as is.

I don't think the cropped kick flares work with the booties that are wide on your ankle - like #8.

I like the shorter length in #4 FOR THOSE BOOTIES. Not sure I will like the shorter length with other booties.

#6 looks fine as is.

I am a total rube on this kick-flair thing but I think they look more intentional when they are just above the boot or maybe just a hair over, and the boot has a narrow shaft--so I like them shortened as on the R leg, but then maybe you have to be careful or you'll lose the flair when hemmed. And I think the degree of flare is important so that the pant hem will be outside the boot shaft even after you sit and get up, etc.

So I think they're tricky to get the right length, the flare in the right place, the right boot to go with them. But I think you can do it!

Hello ladies!

I know have been MIA for months and I have missed you terribly ( I have been reading more-less regulatory though). I have been pretty sick for months (long story) and very busy as well. Things are starting to look up a little and I am hoping to be able to participate more in few weeks.

So this is about the new cropped kick flare jeans. I am super excited about this new jeans trend, especially about the option of wearing them with taller shaft booties so that no skin shows. This would allow me to wear them to work ( we are not allowed to expose any leg skin for safety reasons) and provide a different silhouette in cold weather to ubiquitous skinnies tucked into tall boots.

I am struggling with the right lengths though. Though I am not petite at 5'6". I have very short legs (with long waist), and very skinny ankles, which makes finding booties that fit snug at the ankles almost impossible. Here are three jeans cases for your consideration and advice:

1. Jeans # 1 ( photos #1 and #2) are the cropped straight with tiny kick by Genetic Denim that a couple Fabbers have ( I shamelessly copied them from UmmLila). I am not quite certain, but would guess that the length works both with ankle-strap shoes and silver booties - I lucked out with these booties as they fit fairly close to my ankles.

2. Jeans #2 ( photos #3-6) are the Express cropped flares. It seems to me that they are longer on me than on Angie. I think that they are fine with ankle strapped shoes (photo #3), but I am much more interested in making them work with my black booties (#4 and #5). Since the booties are not snug around the ankle , they distort the kick of the jean hem as you can see on the left leg. Does this bother you visually? Would you hem them a little shorter so they hit right t the top of the booties, as on the right leg, or keep them as is? I also tried them over tall fitted suede boots (#6), and the kick looks fine, but you can see the the top edge of the boot through the jeans - how distracting is this? I would love a pair of snugger fitting dark booties with tall shaft, but chances of finding them are extremely slim.

3. Jeans (#3 (photos #7 and #8) are a pair of eggplant baby-bootcuts that have been sitting in the do-something-with pile for a while as they are extremely long and thus difficult to wear. It turns out that I own a pair of higher-shaft suede booties in exactly the same color - hopefully their shape is not dated, so I am considering cutting the jeans into a cropped shape. In the photos I have only folded the extra material under, so it looks bulky. Since these booties are not fitted at the ankle either, I am having the same dilemmas as with jeans #2. Should I hem them longer so they cover the booties as on the left side or shorter to the top of the booties as on the right side? If you like neither I can always turn them into regular skinnies.
