So many solutions, thanks ladies! I do have some bonus gift bags from the makeup counter and will give those a go as a temporary solution and I'll keep it if it works. Yes the black lining isn't too helpful but my wallet is a bright color so I can almost always find that. If I could I would make all my purses have one large divider, and little pockets along the inside.

I could take it to my seamstress and fix that pocket. Boy I wish I could sew!

I have a giant purse organizer, but realistically, pouches are just easier. One is lipsticks, one for pens, and one with the things that go purse to purse. It's also easy to make space for little pouches. If you get a lot of "bonus gifts" from the makeup counter, you probably already have a nice assortment to work from.

What Emily said. I use Eagle Creek's zippered pouches in black, but they also make sturdy lightweight ones in neon colors that are easy to find in a dark bag.

Similar to Emily I use pouches too. So little purse for make up, one for pens etc. If they are texturally different they are easy to locate. I would struggle with the whole in the zipper pocket as this is where I keep my phone. Could you get it fixed?

I posted about this exact problem in the summer when I purchased a new bag. I never did find an organizer that appealed to me and I resorted to plastic ziplock baggies. I'm still looking

I will be perfectly honest. I would and have nixed a bag like that. I actually prefer one large compartment over multiple small ones simply because it makes me crazy when I invariably look in the wrong one for a certain item. But I must be able to see inside my bag! Black lining is a no go!

I also use a purse organizer but now want one that's a bit stiffer, because after years of use, it's collapsing in on itself. If you want to make it more structured, here's a blog post with a great idea: http://www.puttingmetogether.c.....their.html

ETA: I have a PurseN, but like I said, I'm getting annoyed lately with how soft it is. I wish it had a polycarbonate bottom, LOL.

I've tried the organizer things, but I am terrible (terrible!) at getting things in the pockets. My purse is often less than optimally organized.

One thing that i have found really helps is little pouches- I have one that I use as a wallet that fits my cards, change and pass for work, and one for my chapstick/hairpins/random beauty stuff. You can orient the strap of a wristlet towards the top of the bag so it is easy to get at. Something like #1 with an outside pocket (for easier metrocard access) might work?

I also keep my keys on a carabiner. I can hook it to the strap of my bag so the keys sit inside, but are attached to the top of the bag instead of migrating to the bottom. It isn't the most elegant solution, but you can hardly see it and it is SO convenient.

You need one of those purse organizer thingies.

https://www.pouchee.com/Home.aspx

There's also one called Kangaroo Keeper.

I haven't bought one yet but some Fabbers recommend them highly!

ETA: For myself, I just won't buy purses that are not structured any more.

I have a slouchy messenger purse I really love to wear but the inside is not useful. It's one big empty bag with lining. There is a little pocket with a zipper but it has a hole in it and anything I put in there gets lost behind the lining. It's also dark lining so looking in there doesn't help me much to find the things I need. How do you combat the inside of a purse with no pockets/dividers? Looking for my phone/keys/pencil/metrocard/lipgloss etc is becoming a nightmare.
