I wear a size 8 1/2 (US) and my Haflinger slippers are 39, which I think is what I usually wear in Euro sizes. They fit perfectly. Don't know if that helps!

Ordering shoes is always a bit tricky, but, from my experience, I'd think that the 40 would probably work, especially since that is your Birkies size. My Birkies are a 41 and that is why I bought the Haflingers in that size. My slippers felt a wee bit short at the start, but, as I mentioned, after a few wearings, they were perfect. I tend to wear my Haflingers with a light sock but perhaps the suggestion to size up came from people who like to wear their slippers with heavy socks?

I'd go for it; my Haflingers have been my go-to house shoe for the entire winter. My husband was so taken with them that he ended up buying a pair for himself this winter!

Thanks for the help, but now I am more confused to hear they run big, when I was thinking it was the other way.

An I wish I could just buy slippers from Peter Alexander, but even his size 9/10s are too small for my big clodhoppers. Booo! Otherwise I am finding the slipper offerings in Australia are very dire. I've kept a lookout for the last few months and not seen anything else that remotely tickles my fancy or are large enough (Susans have same ok ones, but they are one size only).

I've just checked my Birkies, and they are size 40 (US 9). Hearing that Gaylene who seems to be half to one size bigger than me wears the 41 in Haflinger also makes me leans towards that option.

Anyone else got some Haflinger wisdom to add before I pull the pin? My cold toes are demanding some kind of solution - and soon!!!

I wear a 10 or 10.5 shoe and my Haflingers are size 41. I debated going for a 42 but am glad that I didn't since the slippers do tend to stretch a bit after wearing them for a while. Mine are a purple wool with a cork bottom but I think the sizing is pretty consistent between styles.

I definitely do NOT recommend sizing up. I have the kitty slippers and they ran big if anything. I got a 37 originally, which is what I normally wear. Way too big. I sized down and they are still too big to wear sockless, but with socks they stay on just fine.

However others said they were TTS, so I might just be an oddball.

I haven't heard anyone mention sizing up though.

Tam, I haven't tried this specific style but I find Haflingers to run similar to Birkenstock/Birki sizing.

These are great Tam! I can't help with the sizing though sorry.

I've put my order in for a pair of Peter Alexander sheepskin lined slipper boots for Mother's Day. My last ones have lasted about 5/6 years and I wear them all the time in winter so hoping for the same this time.

With temperatures rapidly cooling in Melbourne, its overdue time for me to invest in a pair of slippers, since I threw away my smelly old ones at the end of last winter.

Given my love of pigs, I've fallen in love with these piggy slippers from Haflinger, which I know is a style Angie and others here wear and recommend.

I was hoping to ask for advice re sizing. Some reviews to suggest sizing up. I'm usually a US9.5/10 - do you think I should size up to a US 11 (EU42) or would the 10 (EU41) be ok?
