I'm petite, but I sometimes find that a regular pant is a better fit in the waist, because the extra inches crotch to waist help eliminate the muffin top effect. My AT ponte knit "slimmies" are regular (and miles too long!) because they worked better on my body. It is easy to fix the length. I have also found that a wide waistband is my best friend.

I've been on a googling frenzy, for side-zip pants. I have a pair of navy side zip pants that I just love, but got years and years ago. I think they're Marithé + François Girbaud who, of course, move on every season. So I'll never be able to get another pair of those again.

Talbots, LL Bean, Chadwicks and Macy's seem like the best bet currently.

Thank you rachylou!
I had a pair of side zip pants from Gap years ago- casual pants. They were so comfortable! I would like to know where to buy side zip pants. Have you seen any online or in stores?
I also agree that having some stretch does help with the fit.

I have serious problems myself trying to find pants that fit at the waist, hips, seat, and rise all at the same time. I've taken to pants with a *little* stretch in them these days, so they stay up without binding and squeezing.

I am also playing around with a hypothesis that side-zip pants may make for a better, smoother fit.

Hello everyone!
I am trying to find dress pants but am having a tough time with proper fit.
I am 5 ft 3 in and rectangle. I have a tummy.
When I put on low rise pants they don't feel comfortable. The tummy comes out over the top of the jeans.
When I try mid rise, these seem better but still I have a tummy over the top.. :-(
Regular rise means that the tummy comes out as a "pooch" in the pants.
I am short waisted but I have a "regular" rise-(I always thought short waisted = short rise, but now I know why the regular rise feels better).
Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem, and what type of dress pants I could look at?

I do most of my shopping by internet, as I don't live near any good stores.

I also wondered about skinnies that everyone is talking about. I have smaller thighs, so the skinnies I have tried on (only ones have been from Gap)again fit fine in the thigh, but the waist is too low and uncomfortable.

I would love some suggestions for where I can look.

Thank you!
