I'm a petite hourglass too and it seems the fit is perfect as long as you keep the hem an inch above the knee.

You had me at "fit-and-flare" -- what a great silhouette for hourglasses!

I agree with the other ladies here: fit-and-flare is a generally great look for hourglasses, but if you're worried about figure flattery snap a few photos and we can comment in more detail. Will you be buying the matching bolero too?

As for suggestions, given the dress you've posted here I might turn you towards ModCloth or Shabby Apple for other dress options.

I think it is a very pretty floral dress, hard to tell on the figure flattery part without a chance to try it on.

I think I would look good on an hourglass! Usually flared skirts make me look stumpy if they are too long. for a wedding you can get it hemmed though. it is worth a try and you can always keep looking if it does not work out.

Love the dress, HATE strapless bras. A lot. And I mean hate them. Are you okay with it for this dress?

Hourglasses look nice in fit and flares usually, and this one has lots of potential. The pattern and colors are so beautiful. But the material is going to make or break it. How it drapes on you will determine frumpy or fab, so only way to know is to try it on.

Then take pics and post them!

It is a very pretty dress Columbine, but it would be really difficult to say without trying it on. In general fit and flare shapes tend to look good on hourglasses, so maybe give it a try?

Hi Ladies, I have two family weddings last weekend in May and first weekend in April. I'm looking at this dress, but wondering if it's not a good idea for a short hourglassy figure. I really like the colors and length, but I'm 5'3" and things that flare at the waist tend to make me look even shorter and wider than I am. I'd appreciate input on this dress or other suggestions!
