thanks so much for all of your help with this. I just got the dress today and tried it on real quick for size. It seems to fit. I also got the skirt that I posted about the other day, too and it seems good. I think for the purpose of the retreat I will leave the length, though I do agree that it would look better hemmed at the knee. It's a great dress for comfort so I appreciate all of the help in deciding on it. When I get back I'll have it shortened.
I don't have much of anything in the closet right now. I've gotten rid of so much stuff that now it's skeleton. I tried it with the BR cardi and it worked fine though it's alot of black and Im fair with blonde hair.
I also tried a fitted cotton knit wrap around top that ties off to the side in a blue grey color and that seemed to look ok.
I'm going to see if I can do a little shopping tomorrow afternoon for another cardigan and will post photos tomorrow night.
Thanks again for the great help.
BLB I'm not sure what type of meditation, it is with a teacher. I presume mostly sittiing.

Dee, I agree with san... since you're going to be wearing this while sitting cross-legged, you may want to keep the length as it is so that your knees are covered and you don't have to worry about accidentally flashing anyone. Ankle-length leggings (bring socks and possibly even soft ballet-type slippers to slip on during sits) or opaque matte tights will probably be best, along with comfy flats or flat boots. You will want to be very, very comfortable so that fabrics don't interfere with your meditation. I would advise against fishnets or other hose for that reason. They are too delicate.

I'd vote for a V-neck cardi in turquoise, coral, or blue with a contrasting cami (maybe orange or purple). Maybe some wooden or crystal beads for the neck or wrist. Simple, natural, and comfortable!

What type of meditation is it?

I agree with everyone about the length. Just above, at, or below the knee.

I would try to pick a cardi that has some color though--red, cobalt, hot pink. Maybe add another color with a cami under. Like orange cami, black dress, hot pink cardi... or yellow cami, black dress, cobalt cardi....

You could add a pretty beaded necklace or bracelet (or dangle earrings instead of the necklace.)

For the legs, how about microfishnets or a patterned or textured opaque tights?

Hi dee2do. I have this dress and it is very casual fabric. I have not shortened mine because I am still thinking about why they made it so long in the first place. It is made by a company that makes gear and it is advertised to be good for yoga. I wonder if it is made long for modesty during activities. When you are wearing it indoors with no shoes, will you be sitting on the floor and so like to have the length? If I'm correct, you said in another post that you are going to a meditation retreat. So I am just wondering if you would feel comfortable leaving the length and wearing some casual boots or flats with warm thick tights or leggings. Leggings to the ankle would be very cute with this dress, I think. A cozy cardigan would be nice for the occasion too.

http://i477.photobucket.com/al.....G_3856.jpg

The sleeve openings have a touch of cap to them and the knot in front lays very closely to the chest. I think these things would make it more difficult to fit a shirt under the dress.
I hope you will post pictures when you have it all worked out. Are you getting black?

Definitely shorten to around the knee...your best length. For a casual look, instead of a cardi, how about a short classic dark denim jacket?

I agree with everyone that knee length is ideal. Another option to the cardi would be a long sleeve scoop neck t-shirt layered under the dress. This is definitely casual look, which you said you wanted.

Very cute dress - so easy to dress up or down.

Hi Deedo! Lost my first comment - will try again!

I agree with Tanya about the length. It's a lovely dress and if it stops at the knee it will be more chic.

I could also see a lightweight boyfriend cardi working here - perhaps in grey or a vivid color? I'd belt it - but you would have to try that to see if it would interfere with how the neckline of the dress looks. I think maybe the detail at the neck would look good in the v of a belted BF cardi.

Another hosiery option would be nude fishnets, which would look fantastic with either boots or flats.

Nice choice! Looks like you'll be comfy AND stylish - the best combo!

I agree, but get the cami in some sort of pop color... a jewel tone or a bold color... (torquise maybe?)

OK, here are my thoughts:

1. Definitely shorten to dress, either to the knee or right under it, whichever is your best length

2. The best shape of cardi would be a V-neck, slightly shorter one, like the one we refer to here as "Shiny's BR cardi"

3. If needed add a cami under the dress

4. Black tights would be nice

5. Some flat tall boots that fit great on the calf would be the best option, but if you don't have any, a simple flat with low vamp should do too.

I'm getting a sleeveless dress (arriving today from Zappos) to wear this weekend and need to definitely wear a cardigan with the weather being too cold to go without.
Can you suggest what to wear with this? I want to keep it casual. ALSO, Where should the hem fall on my leg, mid calf or under the knee? or something else? I was thinking of tights or leggings with boots or flats depending on how cold it is. The shoes don't matter much because we'll be inside with no shoes most of the time.
http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7378327/color/3

It would take me a long time to figure out what to wear with the dress if I do it on my own. Even to know if I paired it with a cardigan what type of neck would work, vneck, crew, etc. I'm working alot of hours and have other meetings to attend and no time. Thank you,
