I'll keep looking for other shoe options - I haven't been to my favourite store yet (its a little further away) - they often come up with the goods!

When I tried the dress, I really wanted metallic shoes but when I looked, it was impossible! We are heading into winter here, so there is so much black!!

Interesting that many of you are suggesting to skip the necklace entirely! I'm not entirely minimalist, as I like a little "quirk" factor in my outfits, but I also don't like "too much" (as probably indicated by my questioning the flappiness of the sleeves and the lack of other details in the dress!).

Thank you again for your suggestions.

Shannon - I agree with you on the bubble necklace - I don't think it will work, and I don't think it's really "me". It was an option just because we'd been talking about them a few days ago.

Kristin - I looked in several different shops today (the mall I was in has all of our "big" shoe stores as well as 3 department stores) and there really aren't many options. I can't go too high or I just can't walk, and our options seem to be nude, or black. I found one pair of shoes in the perfect dull pearlescent brown (sounds dreadful, but it was a great colour on me with the right amount of shine), but at over $200, I didn't think it was worth it!!

The t-bar on the sandals is quite delicate (around half an inch), so although they are chunky over all, the straps make them a quite feminine shoe. Included is a pic on my feet to give you a better idea.

I'll have a look at earrings too - I don't tend to wear "statement" earrings and thought a necklace of some sort would be better with the plain shape of the dress. Certainly something to consider though, even though they may be out of my comfort zone!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll have a play during the week and might be back for more opinions!!

The sandals will work with the dress, but they are overly casual for the occasion. That's how to dress down the look for another time. I vote metallic footwear!

You can go either way on the necklaces - wear one if you're a maximalist. Leave it off if you prefer a more minimal look.

I really like the little frock! Sewing up the slits is a good solution if you're annoyed with the flaps.

This is a lovely print. I'd skip a necklace, especially with the boat neckline of the dress, and go with just the bracelets ( maybe earrings too if you wear them).

Instead of a necklace, what about earrings? The only thing I'm worried about is the outfit looking too casual with the sandals because of the shape of the dress. Instead of nude pumps, what about a metallic?

First of all, I think you have chosen a gorgeous dress - beautiful on you and IMHO, perfect for the type of wedding and the venue.

I like the idea of a bit of stitching at the shoulder to close some of the opening. I think if you stitch from where the opening begins on the top of your shoulder down to where your upper arm begins (approximately 2 inches) it would work. You will want to make sure it doesn't make the sleeves stick out funny though. And I'm not a seamstress so you may want to listen to those more knowledgeable than me :)

Although I like bubble necklaces in general, personally I think that will be too much with the print of the dress. I love the idea of an old gold short chunky necklace - it wouldn't interfere with that beautiful print at all.

As for shoes, if you went with the gold necklace, metallic pointy toe flats with would gorgeous with the outfit.

I should also add, it's a lunch time reception, and a garden/cocktail style function. Weather here is expected to be quite warm, so I probably won't need a jacket or hose.

I've purchased this little dress to wear to a wedding this coming weekend. I apologise for the lighting - the dress is in fact a bottle green and the fabric is a shiny, drapy poly blend, so has a slight sheen. It's the same fabric as the kaftan in photo #2.

I'm contemplating a fuchsia bubble necklace (thanks to Deborah's tip) - not sure if you can see, but it's the colour in the feather print.

Alternately, I can go with an old gold, short, chunky necklace, or I have an assortment of longer pendant styles. Pearls also look great - short chunky ones, or longer ones. I also have a bracelet stack I could wear if I went with pearls.

Also, I'm unsure about the "flappy" sleeves. I was thinking I'd sew the tips together so that they can flap a little bit, but not completely open. I'd love your recommendations there also.

I'll probably be wearing the chocolate brown sandals in #3. Otherwise I'm not really sure - I could purchase some metallic pointy toed ballet flats (which are a "maybe" on my shopping list), but given that my opportunities to "dress up" are few and far between I am hesitant to spend too much. I tried several pairs of nude pumps today also, but I don't like nude shoes on my feet. I feel that these sandals are a little "edgier" which suits my style better.

Do you have any suggestions or preferences?
