I just wanted to echo what everyone else has already said call Zappos they have great customer service. Also a professional who regularly works with leather should be able to take care of your jacket. I hope it all works out for you.

The jacket cam be fixed. You need a good leather repair shop. There is one here I know of, if you don't mind shipping the jacket. Let me look for the info and I'll PM you their number. Same for the shoes, a good leather repair shop will take care of it.

I think you will have to deal with the Sam Edeman company. This will be a good way to see if they stand behind their product. I don't think the seller will help you 13 months down the road, but it's worth a try as well.
Sorry that you had such bad luck with your purchases, the jacket and the booties are beautiful but unfortunately the quality is not up to par.

How awful. I agree with what the others are saying, I would contact both companies for a refund. Both are repairable, but the repair on he jacket will most likely always be noticeable, even if only slightly. A leather repair person should be able to fix it but you'll probably always see a repair line. Quality just isn't what it used to be, is it? Good luck.

FWIW, it's from Amazon, not Ebay. Better return policy, at least. I doubt they would follow up with them later, if the same zipper broke down the line, though.

Have you taken the boots to a good repair place? If you need a recommendation I can see if my niece knows anyone (she's a stylist). I would consult with a good cobbler and try to repair, on Zappo's dime. The repair might be pricey. My fear with the used pair from eBay is that the same damage occurs but you have zero recourse on eBay (don't I know it from having been burned before) even though they say you are protected. In my experience they side with the bigger fish never the small fry.

I'm so sorry, Adelfa! What a couple of crushing blows--two expensive wardrobe staples in the infirmary! The problem with buying the used pair of the boots is that you don't know if the same thing will eventually happen to them too. What a pickle.

On the jacket, I would contact the manufacturer or wherever you purchased it. That is not normal wear and tear. Hopefully someone will help you.

I am very sad about the moto. I am not a seamstress, so I can't say anything about being able to fix it. Perhaps there is a way, but I imagine it will be expensive.

Either way, big hugs!! It is hard enough when one favorite malfunctions. But two at once is cosmically unfair.

Eeek! That's a shame. On the jacket, try taking it to a shoe repair place. They should be able to patch it from behind, but I don't know that they'll be able to make a patch that will take much stress. You may have to forego using that pocket, but you'd at least have the jacket for a bit longer.

Eek, such bad luck! I hope you can get the booties fixed. If the leather is not damaged I think a cobbler should be able to replace the zipper, although it would probably be best to get both zippers replaced (both so they match and just in case the original zippers are just defective). I hope Zappos or Sigerson Morrison is willing to pay for the repair!

The jacket is a different story. I don't think that's easily repairable since it's not on a seam or anything. It can be sewn back (the cobbler might be able to do it) but would likely look a bit Frankenstein-y. I wonder if maybe the leather was damaged during the manufacturing or shipping (like, maybe a person with a box cutter nicked it?) because it looks like such a clean rip. Where did you get it from? I'd definitely contact them and see about a replacement/refund.

What a horrible predicament! I'd try calling a western wear shop in the area and see if they had recommendations for good cobblers in the area who specialise in boots. When I needed to have some fluevogs stretched, they gave me excellent ideas and warned me about possible problems I might encounter. Find your cobbler and get a quote.

After that, I'd call zappos and, if they can't send you a replacement, perhaps they'd be willing to pay for the repairs? As you say, you don't want a refund, you want the boots. And they don't want merchandise they can't sell, either.

It will help in your contact with Zappos if you have your order number. When my daughter had problems with her boot zipper, I used the email address and they got back to me right away. Fortunately for her, they still sold the same boot so they replaced them. In hers, it seems to be a design defect as she feels like the zippers are about to break again.

Sweet bootie!

Yes, a good cobbler can replace the zipper(s). A mediocre cobbler can butcher them irreparably and insult you for trying.

Hope Zappos can straight-out replace these for you. And in the short term, that you remain uninjured through your Christmas party!

Sometimes zippers are a known issue with a given model of boot; they are with my Fluevog riding-style boots. So far I haven't had problems, but it's out there.

Phone Zappos. They will do everything to help you. They rank top in my book for customer service.

Can you have them fixed is my next question.

A good cobbler will be able to replace the zipper, but it will probably cost a lot. I would do both just to make sure they were even. How frustrating!

So, you can read below my OP about my booties. The very next day, my big purchase from Fall 2012 bit the dust. My treasured Sam Edelman moto ripped. I don't know why. Except that the pocket is a stress point. Is there a way to glue the leather onto a backing? It looks worse than it looks in the pics, and also if I wear it it will rip more.

I have a personal rule not to buy anything that if it were wrecked I'd be sick about. But two major purchases in two days is a lot. I'm feeling confused about what's okay to buy. I've gotten a lot of use out of the jacket but I expected more than 13 months. I was wearing it constantly this time of year.

Also in my new apartment I only have internet once in a while, plus no cell service, so I'm not able to be very responsive, though I do read and treasure each response.

Hi everyone. My big purchase of the Fall was these Sigerson Morrison Yoko booties in black nubuck. They were everything I wanted them to be. They are my go to boot and I count on them to create countless looks. This morning while I was zipping my right bootie I felt something funny and discovered that 2/3 of the zipper had come loose on one side. It wasn't that the stitching came undone--it was that the zipper frayed and pulled loose from the stitching.

I can't find on zappos how to return for quality issues. The problem is that these booties don't seem to be available anywhere. I didn't search for hours, but I did look at a lot of places. (They are available marked down in a shade of red).

I'm not sure they can be repaired unless the whole zipper is replaced. Which would mean replacing the other one too or it would look funny?

Any thoughts? Ever had a bootie zipper replaced?

I'm wearing them today to a big Christmas party for my new job. I will take a spare pair in case they fall off my feet!
