Suz- Thanks for some fun suggestions incorporating Canada into the style moniker. I think I might have one for consideration
NancyW- Great COS slogan, casual ease is certainly a part of my style

ETA,: I'm happy to say that I've got my style words figured out. I'm going to post another thread about it soon

Yikes, so many good thoughts and suggestions that I could end up overthinking this..
Star/Angie- I agree that chic style isn’t necessarily only french, but I guess I was referring to it as just being a french word that could incorporate the french elements in my style.
Mary Beth- I can see how the word retro does play a bit into my style.
Helena- Appreciate you chiming in as one who also enjoys wearing classics in your wardrobe.. Yes, I feel that relaxed is an important component to my style.
Angie- You’re incredible with this, charm does incorporate the notion of whimsy and quirky and it does feel like an important aspect to my style. Its on my short list for sure. I can also see the reasoning for adding French to my descriptors, as it is a part of my heritage, and the city I live in.
Jenni NZ- Yes I can certainly see the value of a style persona, but I’m also going to need some help with suggestions on getting the french element into the name.

My brain is still working....

Ladylike left-bank charmer?

Coco by the Lachine? Or Chanel goes Lachine? (This encapsulates French style, a bit of ladylike elegance/ refinement plus a bit of down to earth practicality -- I mean, people, this is CANADA!!)

Those are for starts. Maybe they will get other brains percolating, too, and I'll come back...

Angie’s ideas are all great. I’m just thinking…unless you also wish to make a persona to guide you. So like Suz (Laidback Luminous Garconne) or Star (Grownup Tomgirl) or Sal (Grownup Charlie’s Angel) or myself (Sassy Shoemaker’s Elf). Sorry to Suz, Star and Sal if I didn’t get those quite correct.
I still find mine a bit helpful even when I’m buying very little, just trying to put something that feels a bit sassy to me in the outfit. You could possibly get the French bit into a persona and have other style words.

This thread is on a roll! Fun for you, Dee :)

(Yes! I know you are an anglophone! Your heritage, city, and style are very classic French IMO. Distinctively so!)

To answer your question: No. I don't. French style can be chic, but chic style isn't necessarily French.

FWIW, the component of subtle Whimsy that Star sees, I saw too! I reflected that vibe into the word Charm

I also see the Grace that Lisa sees.

Some options:

Soft French Charm

Classic French Charm

Charming Classic

Classic Charm

Charming Modern Classic

Chic French Charm

You folks are terrific, I’m enjoying all your great suggestions.
Angie- My goodness, you’re soo good at this kind of thing, soft, french, charm sounds quite lovely too.
Runcarla- Oh this neo-boho does seem a more refined sort of boho. Very interesting. I do see some of my style in your photo #1 of business boho.
Star- Haha, you have mentioned about quirky elements to my style before. Looks like charm might be a good word for this.
Lisa- Thank you, Elegantly French seems a nice descriptor too.
Suz- You’re right, where are the Breton stripes in my photos? Funny enough, I was actually wearing stripes yesterday lol. I think we definitely have some words nailed down, but looking forward to your moniker ideas.
Jenni NZ- You are a delight, those photos are so adorable and cliche french. Cool, Classic is pretty good too.
Sisi- I like your addition of the word playful.
All wonderful suggestions, lots of ideas are percolating in my head now.

Oh, I love this set of outfits -- you look fantastic in every one! And you've picked some of my very favourite outfits of the year. Every time I clicked on an image I thought: I remember that one!

I definitely think French needs to be part of your descriptor -- after all, though you don't show an outfit including them here, stripes are your favourite pattern! And you wear the wide legs so very well. Practical, soft or semi-structured and charm also resonate for me.

I'm going to give some thought to a moniker, though, because that can be most helpful of all (for some of us, at least). Let me sleep on it and come back.

Carla such an interesting take on boho. I always do a bit of boho-lite in summer, definitely not full on. This is quite appealing!

I love Angie,s suggestion. Charm is very on track. I often see a bit if quirky or whimsy in your outfits, either in you jewelry choices or your patterns, your
colours and I think this is your Charm. Modern classic with a touch of whimsy.

Note the elements listed in the photos below, and consider the signatures of your style! You listed: ditsy prints, knit or quilted vests, cardigans, colour and texture!

I read last week that Neo-bohemian will be in evidence in 2025, and it’s more refined than stereotypical ‘boho’. Relaxed styling, interesting textures, natural materials, that kind of thing.

Oh you ladies are just wonderful and I really appreciate all your interesting impressions and suggestions.
Angie- You’ve suggested before that there’s a certain french aspect to my style, I am actually an anglophone living in Quebec but my father is french. I’ve only been to France once but I really love the idea of stylishly practical.
Runcarla- Haha I see you have a fondness for burgundy with outfit #4. thanks for your suggestions, I have never thought of my style as bohemian before
Kkards- Angie suggested elegant too, and relaxed because I do feel at ease in my clothes, so I do understand what you mean by comfortable. Yep, figuring style monikers and words is tricky, but I appreciate that you chimed in.
Jaime- Oh I do like classic with flair.

I like the word Soft that Carla added too, Dee! And Elegant is a favourite I see :)

I also see Practical, Fuss-free, Semi-Structured, Allure, and Patterns. And #8 is CHARMING!

So far, I have:

Soft French Charm

I see what Angie sees - my first thought was European but French is more evocative of your style I think. What I am seeing is classic with flair, sensible but stylish, and I will let someone else find the exact term to encapsulate that all!

The 1st word that popped into my head was elegant
Also comfort, but not in the “your clothing look comfortable”, but more like Dee is comfortable in her clothing. Hope that makes sense. I’m terrible at these style moniker thing.

Words that come to mind: modern, classic, soft natural = neo-bohemian (or urban bohemian).

I have to run to a meeting but wanted to start the ball rolling with these words, Dee:

FRENCH (That's honest since you live in Montreal! Also, you remind me of the stylishly practical and fabulous women I saw daily when I lived in France )

You are also elegant, relaxed, classic, polished and pretty. I'm late! Back later...
