Thanks for all the help, but I have been thwarted by lack of inventory!
Nordie's had the Carson, but none that fit and didn't have any Reginas. They also didn't have any Borns to try. I may take a chance and order online, but I did look all over the mall for cognac pointy toe flats and NONE could be found.

I prefer pointy as a matter of course.

If I have to choose, as long as the shoe is merely uncomfortable, rather than excruciating, I will seriously consider getting them if I like the design.

Then again, I don't have the prettiest feet!

I think it all comes to your personal preference and comfort level. I prefer a look of pointy or almond toe shoes but my wider feet perfer the round toes - and guess who wins this battle?:-)
Another consideration: if you want to wear these flats with the bootcuts then pointy or almond toe is a better choice than round toes.

Pointy toes are more modern while the other flats are classic. I'd go with comfort as the #1 factor in selection as they are quite similar apart from the toe box. I just don't wear shoes that are uncomfortable.

I bought the Born Lolas at NAS. Haven't worn them a lot yet but they are comfortable and flattering. I've owned several pairs of Borns and they've always worked well for me and lasted a long time. Others here swear by Fryes but when I've tried them in they've never worked with my foot. I think whichever brand you've had success with, if any, should be the front runner.

I do think the pointy toe flats are more trendy, but that also probably means than in a few years they will look dated again. I think an almond toe shape, ie not too literally round, is always in style because it mimics the shape of the foot.

I own the Frye Regina flats in brown. I just wore them today, in fact! They are very comfortable. The leather seems very high quality and really molds to your feet. I have a hard time wearing flats but can do these—they don't slip off my heel and have a flexible sole so that my foot can bend as I walk. I've been very happy with them.

I think Nordie's carries them, but they might be online only. I got mine from Zappos, where they have some of the colors on sale. That's one of the reasons I got the brown—it was on sale, and I wasn't sure how my feet would react to flats.

I did find that I had to go up half a size, because they do run really small. And you might have to order a couple of pairs in the same size, because there is a lot of variation. I ordered a 6.5 and a 7 from Zappos initially (same order), and the difference between the two was huge. So I ordered a second pair of 7s, and those fit more like I thought they should. They told me at Zappos that since the Frye shoes are handmade, there is a lot of variation, and Zappos is used to having to send out multiple pairs of Fryes in the same size for a single customer so as to get the best fit.

I don't know what your overall style is, but the Reginas read to me a little boho/casual because of the little tie detail at the back.

I am probably biased, but I really love these shoes! I am so glad I got them. I've had them for only a little over a month and have already worn them 15 times.

Love the pointy toe because they are interesting but not too dramatic and can be dressed up.

The Born Lola link seems to be the Frye Carson link. Love the Frye Reginas. More current to my eye if comfort works.

Good Afternoon Wise Ladies of YLF;
I am getting ready to go try on some shoes to add to my Fall/Winter 2014 collection. As you may remember, I ordered the Munro Robyn Booties in brown and would like to get a pair of brown or cognac ballet flats this year, too. My main winter shoe is a custom brown pair of moto boots (Gasolina) that I ordered last summer and have already had to resole, as I put A LOT of miles on them last year.
Anyways, I am trying to decide which shoes to get - I have been eyeballing the Frye Carson in Coganc (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/fr.....n=category) and/or the Born Lola (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/fr.....n=category) for the round toe shoes. I like the Born Halle ( http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bo.....Url=Ballet) and the Frye Regina (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/fr.....Url=Ballet) for the pointy toe. I already have a pair of soft gold Tieks that I wear pretty much all of the time, which is why I would like to get a second pair of flats. The Tieks are a round toe. I have a pair of nude almond toe flats that I am going to donate when I get new brown ones, as my gold ones function as a great "nude"!
I have two pairs of pumps, both pointy toe, one nude and one brown. With the being said, I usually wear either skinny jeans/pants and boot cuts (and now skinny BFs), but wear dresses on the weekends when I have the chance. I just can't figure out which would be more economical since I can only get one pair.
I will be heading out the door in about 15 minutes to go to Nordies!
