Ha ha, I said to myself, "Wow! I'd have kicked those shoes off by now!" I see you have done exactly that. :)

I'm glad to know it's working, though. I have a pair of heels that I might need to stretch also, since the toebox is a little small. I ordered the next size up, which should arrive tomorrow. Then we will see if I must submit my feet to the thick-sock torture too! I'm too chicken to walk around in wet feet as per Angie's post, because I know that you absolutely can't return the shoes after that.

I will say that I read once that if you buy leather shoes, it's much better to have them fit too tight at the beginning than too loose, because of the stretching that occurs over time. If you can bear the break-in period, the leather on the smaller pair will conform to your feet and give you a custom fit. If you can't do it yourself, you might want to go to a cobbler. Sometimes they can examine the shoe up front and say whether they think they can get it to expand enough for you.

It seems like they stretched a bit even in the 20 minutes of bed-wearing. I think I will change plans and try and work with them. I'm too cheap to pay the $30 plus shipping. Hope I don't regret it.

Thanks again, everyone. In the meantime, it's 10:30 pm here and I'm lying in bed with double socks on and over them, some even tighter peep-toed shoes. I am crazy. If I have any nightmares, I'll let you know. (I don't have them strapped on so they might slip off. Just wondering if it will have any (positive) effect by morning.)

ETA I am taking them off. What was I thinking

I bought a pair of plastic shoe stretchers and they work pretty well. They came with a "magic shoe stretching spray" that turned out to be plain old rubbing alcohol. Spray the alcohol inside the shoe (so far it hasn't marked any of the leather) and then apply the shoe stretchers.

Or sometimes I take a page from Shannon's book and use a potato instead!

Mochi, I just have a pair of old fashioned wood shoe stretchers and they really work well. They belonged to my grandmother but I've seen similar in 2nd hand stores. They are adjustable.

I have successfully eased up a couple of pairs of shoes just by wearing them with a double layer of really thick wool socks inside for a short while around the house. Unconfortable, yes, but it worked!

If you have a Nordstrom near you, you could also take it to them to have them stretched. Not sure the cost, but I would think if you have a Nordies card it would be included in the $100 of yearly alterations that covers.

Hmm, Aida. I remember it being a discussion on the forum. However, it could very well have been referring back to that method anyway, so I think you hit on it. Thanks! I don't remember a freezer method, *lyn, but who knows? I'm clearly getting forgetful : ) Thanks to you too. Now to debate whether I should try it. Cons is that they will become unreturnable, as Angie said. But if I return, I have to pay a restocking fee anyway (which I knew about--was taking a chance). Shoes are $200. I may try to stretch them. Length is fine.

Hi, everyone. I remember some months back (it had to have been less than a year) a discussion on stretching out leather shoes, with Angie offering a tried-and-true method I don't remember, something like stuffing wet newspapers inside the toebox maybe? Anyway, I've searched but I can't find that thread here. Can someone please find me the link?

I also went to other sites and at one site found some advice insisting that most of the methods don't work but she was successful putting on at least one (or more) thick pair of socks, putting the tight shoes on, and blasting the toe boxes with hot air from a blow dryer for two minutes. However, one of the comments was that this could cause shoe warping. So...I am not sure what to do....as usual I am writing a wordy long post here...just generally: What Works????

Thanks in advance, super excellent women!
