They are a little too large so I have an insole in them. I mostly wear them when it's cold so the extra room allows for thick socks and plenty of wiggling room. We used to joke about the inevitable "week of pain" that comes with a new pair. I think I had three or four pairs over the course of the decade, and they were all painful for the first few wears until they were broken in, but after that they were very, very comfortable. And classic, in my book. That silver pair you have there are fabulous. I really like the higher shaft -- they remind me of combat boots. Funky combat boots! But you'll still be in for a week of pain. I sized down half a size in mine. I wear a UK 4.5 and sized down to a 4. </p> <p>It's a process before they are comfy, but it's worth it. These are true wardrobe classics that will stand the test of time. They are also indestructible.
