Great ideas! The purple jacket does sound a bit heavy for an indoor outfit, (depending on the weather and whether the venue has AC blasting) but the velvet jacket could be fun too, especially juxtaposed with a fun tee. Conversely, the cognac leather jacket with a silkier tee could be fun too. The idea of a convertible clutch is brilliant -- I do like crossbody convertibles for shoes and evenings out when I want to be hands-free.

I'm excited for you. That should be a great show!

You certainly don't need studs for a blues show. plus Jimmie Vaughn is awesome!

My uniform is skinny jeans, boots (sometimes cons), drapey tee, crossbody bag and jacket as needed. There actually is a huge variation in the details. I'll skip the jacket if possible because clubs can run hot. Most of the shows I see are either in bars or are general admission so I have to be able to stand all night in the shoes.

The last local blues show I wore burgundy waxed skinnies, black boots, black denim cropped moto jacket, and a charcoal fluid-fit tunic. For my friend's metal band I wore grey skinnies, red converse and my favorite Black Sabbath t-shirt. I skipped the jacket because I knew the club would be hot. The silhouettes were pretty similar but the details made them different

I understand that your purple leather is a bit warm for indoor wear. I must say though, that I love the idea of colored leather, rather than black for you. Of course, if you'd wear a black piece a lot, go for it! But I love the idea of cognac with a deep color like purple or teal in a lightweight tee or drapey top underneath. Just a thought!

Oh, Janet! I was hoping you would provide advice. I believe you own this look. Which leather jacket I use will depend on the weather. The purple one has a thick, warm, lining and is best suited to colder weather. Do you think a purple velvet blazer might work?

Rabbit, I agree about the sexy vibe of this type of music (there's something about a sax section!). If I can't find a T, maybe a draped sleeveless silky tank?

Good call Caro. I've seen envelope style bags with a thin strap or chain that can be tucked away so they look like a clutch. I'll look for something that is convertible this way.

Ok...I'll start with the jeans, and look for a Vintage rock T or dressy T with an interesting graphic, and a slim clutch or envelope bag with a chain. Audition the leather jackets, to see if they will work...

We go to a few blues/rock concerts & I agree totally with Janet about the outfit. I love the idea of a clutch but I like to wear an across the body bag so I'm hands-free.

Sounds fun! The blues are very down to earth, so jeans and t shirts are always a good bet. Doesn't matter if it's in a theater. You could wear more dressy shoes or boots as long as they are comfy. Depending on the artist sometimes people stand during much of the show, even in theater seats, so you have to stand too to see. Also it's good to wear something you can 'chair dance' or 'aisle dance' in if you tend to be moved by the groove. :D

Leather is good (cognac or purple is great), but remember you might want to take it off if it gets hot, which shows in small venues that rock out tend to do. Blingy/hardware/sequins/earrings that sparkle catch the spotlight in fun ways, but aren't necessary. A clutch is fine if you can leave it on your chair, if you are standing a lot, you might want to have your hands in the air! \o/

Wear what feels comfortable to you. Also it's very sexy music, so I tend to dress in a way that feels casual/sexy but comfortable and easy to move in.

Absolutely jeans are fine for a concert like this! My go-to concert outfit almost always contains denim. :-)

How about the baby flare jeans with purple leather jacket and a vintage tee? Love the clutch idea too.

Ok, if it was the symphony, opera, ballet, or a play, I would be okay, but it's a blues rock concert! DH got tickets for Jimmie Vaughn and the Tilt A Whirl band. He LOVES this genre of music, and we are going to have such fun!

My stuff is mostly classic/sporty and my leathers are cognac and purple! I don't have anything studded or metallic. I was thinking of using either my black pencil skirt with the faux leather panel or my baby flare jeans (the first pants that I own that are long enough!). Can you wear jeans to a concert in a theatre?

I'm thinking of something new like a vintage style T, and a clutch. I need a clutch anyway. Maybe black with some hardware?

This is a sartorial challenge for me, but I am up to venturing beyond my comfort zone. Help me with some ideas. I have 5 weeks.
