I think culottes are something I will think about but probably not pull the plug on. I could do the right wide leg trousers, but I can't do a full skirt well, so I can't imagine really being comfortable in culottes. Closet orphan for sure.</p> <p>I've done the "capsule on the bed" once before, but I have never gone that step farther and actually tried on and photographed outfits from it. In this case, there were a few outfits whose pictures I forgot to post here, and obviously lots of outfits I didn't even try on. The color scheme is pretty cohesive so almost everything works together. It was extremely helpful to put it all out in front of me like that, and really helpful to see what I had, what I didn't have, and what the possibilities are.</p> <p>It's so interesting to me that some of you felt you learned from this. Keeping either or both of them would have meant forgoing other shopping for some time, so today I decided to do the right thing: actually build my spring/summer travel wardrobe capsule to see if I can afford these items. And the answer? No. I don't need those jeans (my recent Uniqlo jean purchase was perfect, and I don't love how these fit, and they are expensive) and the pinstripe jacket, while wonderful, is not where my workwear need is. So both expensive items are going back, allowing me to add to my workwear wardrobe as needed.</p> <p>My spring/summer travel workwear wardrobe is small -- most of it is laying on my bed below:</p> <p>3 pairs of trousers (long black, long navy pinstripe, cropped navy -- plus a pair of cropped b/w houndstooth I am unsure about)<br />not here, but I can wear my JBrand bootcuts also in some cases<br />3 jackets (navy Reiss, grey BR, navy/white JCrew -- plus a black BR that I don't wear)<br />2 dresses that I should wear more (black sheath bought recently for a funeral, blue/olive print JCrew)<br />5 long sleeve button downs (white, navy, 2 light blue, lt blue print silk)<br />1 short sleeve top (white scuba peplum)<br />4 sleeveless (b&amp;w print, grey, navy/citron print, white/grey print that I am unsure of)<br />3 pairs of heels (grey cage sandals, black open-toe booties, wine okalas -- but calf-hair, so only spring)<br />2 pairs of flats (black D'orsay, black and white print fabric pointy-toe)</p> <p><b>I think I need:</b><br />1 light pair of pants<br />2-3 more tops, preferably short sleeve -- <b>what color</b>?????<br />1 pair of shoes -- colored block-heeled sandals?</p> <p>I also have a VC striped skirt which I may wear more this spring.
