This is all very helpful. Thanks!

Susie, I tried your rolling technique. They still felt bulky but I was able to make a much neater roll. Thanks!

Marley, I hadn't thought about the cut of the jeans, just the inseam. I had been thinking about buying the tall version to get a longer inseam and wear them full length and then get the petite pair to wear as rolled crops. I'm rethinking the taller inseam now.

I think you guys are right that I just have to choose an application. I wear jeans nearly everyday so it's not like I need the pair to do more than one job. I think I'll return the regular and order the petite online.

Thanks

These jeans are cut to be worn cropped - so, I think that instead of trying to make a regular inseam cropped style work like a full-length jeans on you, that you should get either a petite cropped - and just resign yourself to the fact that you won't have the versatility of wearing them full-length. Or - if they have petite full length - I'd get those and then try rolling them to see if they work as a cropped jean for you as well. To me - cropped jeans don't work very well as full-length - no matter how short you are - because the legs are cut specifically for a cropped length and the shape of the leg and width of the cuff is just a little bit "off!"

I like the shorter length, and since I have spent way too much time looking at my own rolls, I think it looks a bit bulky. I think Susie's trick will work for you, as long as the pants aren't too tapered. It worked for me with my Gap jeans, but not as well with my Nikkis and Dres. I ended up giving up on the full length idea and having those hemmed.

I like the shorter length better, and the rolls look OK in the pix (not too bulky). However, I know that rolling more than a couple of times can be uncomfortably tight on the leg. I would try Susie's trick and see if that helps. If not, maybe you could try the petite length and see how you feel about it? Sometimes we have to trade versatility for comfort. :^(

3 to 4 rolls can look fine I think. try to roll really cleanly and neatly to reduce bulk. I like Susies idea though. On your photos they all look fine to me.

with what shoes? you can get away with the lower roll if you have midcalf booties that can close the gap. the higher roll looks great with flat shoes and sandals. You can make the roll a little wider too, for less bulk

You can make the first roll double the size of the second one- so making the first roll 4 inches, then bring a second up to meet it, would give you 6 inches shorter with less bulk. Does that make sense??

I don't think it's the number of rolls so much as the bulk of the fabric when rolled. Can you post photos so we can see how bulky the roll looks? Also, depending on style of pant sometimes a wider "cuff" with fewer rolls looks good while other times a thinner roll is more flattering.

Im very petite so I usually end up rolling around three times, but again, it depends on the length and fabric of the pants to start with.

I'm short. I bought Pilcro Hyphen cropped BFs in a regular inseam. They fit full length on me unrolled. To get the right cropped length I need to roll 4 times. Is this too many? The rolls seem a bit chunky. I could trade for the petite length but then I lose the versatility of two lengths.

So the question is ... How many rolls are too many?

Pic #1 - 2 rolls - awkward length but I think the bulk of the roll is right

Pic #2 - 4 rolls/5rolls - better length but are the rolls too bulky?

Thanks!
