I think so far I'm returning the Lafayette's and likely keeping the classiques. These are not as fitted in the thigh as the editors, and are also a better quality all around (better fabric, heavier texture, better drape and lined).

I'm a little irked that both pair seem to come across as "tight" since esp. with the Classiques if I size up they'd be falling down! I realize it's probably just the way I stood in the "back view" shot that's giving the impression that they're tight.

Clearly, the Lafayette's are not worth the price; they are a beautiful material but it isn't thick, which isn't the best with a curvy figure, especially with this high-waisted and somewhat straight cut. If I sized up I'd get that little saggy crotch crease in the front from too much material (which is already happening with this pair if I stand a certain way) and they'l likely still look "too tight". I don't think they look too tight IRL, but I do think this high waisted style is too limiting.

Return the loden ones. I'm on the fence on the Classiques. But there's something to be said for a real trousers in a real good fabrication.

Wow...love that blush moto on you! It looks amazing with your coloring.

On the pants...would you consider buying 2 Lafayettes in different sizes? One that fits now and one that might fit once you lose a few pounds? If your weight fluctuates up and down, it might make sense to have 2 sizes.

The gray pair is very similar to your Editors. But they fit you better than the Lafayettes.

Hi Jeneva --

I really like the Classiques (4-6) on you and while yes, they are similar to the Editors (7) even in photos the fabric quality comes through...I'm sure in person they are even more wonderful!

Plus, who doesn't love having a backup pair of trousers that fit when the favorite is getting cleaned?

The loden Lafayettes seem to be a problematic cut, and I bet the rise is contributing. I absolutely believe you when you say they are too loose -- I know from experience those wrinkles are caused by too *much* fabric (so annoying). I'd vote pass on those but they are gorgeous and such a versatile color so I will sniff a little on your behalf.

Perhaps you can snag the other loden pair to try when returns start coming in? Hope so!

I'm no help on trouser fit, but you look lovely Jenava, and your blush moto is superb. You have the most beautiful complexion and hair color/hair style. Good luck with your decision. I *do* like the drama of the drape-y, wide legs on you though!

I'm going to be a bit of a dissenting voice here. I think both pairs of trousers are too tight for you now. BUT if you are quite certain you will lose weight, they could be worth it, although the heavier fabric is a better bet, because it clings less to curves.

I've been losing weight steadily and slowly over the last three years, so I always buy things too tight now, because otherwise I just won't be able to wear them long enough to justify the expense. In my case, I am fully confident that further weight loss isn't just wishful thinking, so I break the rule of buying for my current body. If you aren't certain you will be losing weight, size up.

Jenava, if you say they feel looser - I believe you. Then it's the fit that's not working in the Lafayettes despite a size difference.

I have seen both the Editors and the Classiques irl. They are different to my eye. The Editors are not as seasonal, and have a colour blocked waistband - whereas the Classiques are softer, more "Fall and Winter" and more dramatic all round. More '40s. Plus you work full time! You could do with another pair of trousers

So, the green pair are actually *loose* but I think because of the high waist they create bunching that appears to look tight...I'd never stand for clothes that were too tight! It's interesting that they appear sooooo tight when they don't feel that way; probably a combination of the fabric weight (light) and the extreme high waist (the waistband actually covers my belly button!).

Clearly they are not a 10, so they will be going back.

Jenava, life's too short for tight trousers while you wait to lose weight. You need clothing that works *now* --- trust me, counter-intuitive as this may sound, you will feel better in the longer term buying clothing to fit rather than punish yourself. Note also that it is easier (nay, even POSSIBLE) to take in a too-loose pair than to let them out --- so if you lose weight, it is STILL a win-win in the long term.

So... longwinded way of saying the first look really painfully snug (and that's when you're just standing straight; bound to strain far more sitting down, which could ruin the seams and shape for good), and the second are much better!

I like the b/w tweed pair, but they are definitely incredibly similar to your editors. I tried to come up with some enabling rationalization, but unless they make you swoon when you slip your legs in them, I'd send both pairs back. The editors are filling that wardrobe hole nicely.

The loden pair are doing some strange curving bunching thing in the leg. They don't flatter your figure.

The first pair (darker gray) look a little tight from the front view. The second pair look like a better fit from the front, but if your weight is fluctuating, it is probably better to hold off on purchasing them. I lost some weight, and I wish I had held off on buying pants during the losing phase. I just had even more ill-fitting pants when all was said and done.

I can only help by relating to your weight gain story. I happens to me every summer. I think it has to do with fluid retention more that anything. I am in the fence too as far as my own NAS purchases because I know I will shed the 5-6 pounds I'm over, once fall and winter roll around.
With that said, I feel these two are a bit snug as they look right now so I vote return. They are too much of a risk.

Angie, I refuse to go up a size in the Lafayette's because then they will be much too large if I lose even a few pounds. The fabric isn't thick so that might be contributing to the look of them being tight (because they are actually a little loose, but I am quite curve on the bottom!

Do you think the Classique's are too similar to my existing editors? I wonder if I'll stop wearing the editors in favor of the Classiques because they both serve the same basic purpose.

OK, so I got two pair of trousers at the sale. One pair was very spendy and I want to make sure it's worth it.

#1, the Classiques tweed black and white trousers. These are similar in look to my black and white editors from express...except that there's no comparison in quality! The fabric is textured, the drape is lovely and they are lined. And comfy as PJs! These were 10% of my budget.

#2, the Lafayette tweed loden trousers. The loden trousers that were in the catalog that Amy and others got were not available when I (a Nordies employee) was allowed to shop at 2pm on the first day of the sale. But these were. They were more than the other pair, but I do love the fabric. My hesitation is the price and the fact that they are VERY high rise, such that I likely wouldn't tuck with these. These were 20% of my budget (which I overspent, so am feeling like if they aren't a 10 they should go back).

Another thing to consider is that these are a size up from my normal size, as I've gained weight this month (for the second month in a row )-: ). But, I figured as I lose weight I can just have the waist taken in. I likely won't lose enough to make them not fit for at least a year.

Should I return one, none or both of these? What do you think?
