Thank you for the feedback. I had a few free minutes and measured inseams for stuff and reread Angie's post about two flattering lengths for ankle height pants. I think I have a better sense now. I have another set of trousers (Current Elliot Buddy Cropped Trouser) that arrived yesterday, and I wanted to make sure I understood before I made a decision to keep/return.

The pants you posted yesterday were great cropped length on you, and so are these hiking pants. Since you're tall, anything that ends just above your ankle bone is cropped for you. Based on your preference, this length could be 3-4 inches above the ankle or just touch the ankle bone.....

It's us shorter ladies who need to worry more about perfect length with crops....because crops can truly shorten the leg line and have a stumpifying effect on us. But you don't have to worry about that thankfully!

From what I can tell from the picture, you have long legs for your height, which goes a long way to making cropped pants work. In general, crops shorten the leg line. The Athleta ones above look great on you, however, because they are tapered, slim-fitting, and not high-contrast with your skin. And like I said, you have long legs, which always helps.

I find that if the cropped pants are halfway up my calf, they make my legs look short. If the hem ends (or is rolled) to just above my ankle bone, and the pants are tapered, it's not so bad.

I have read and reread Angie's posts on this, but I am still having trouble seeing how things work on my body. When I started my closet overhaul, I avoided most cropped pants to develop a better sense of PPL. I am planning a trip to Ecuador for the early spring, when it will be very hot on the coast, so I want to figure out cropped pants.

My full-length pant inseam is probably 31 inches. I have heeled shoes for going out, but my daily life works better with flats, so I need to optimize the length.

Yesterday I posted about my new Current Elliot cropped straights and folks thought the length was right. I originally thought they were too long. Clearly I don't have a good sense of this. The new pants are 26 inch inseam and the crotch fits where it should.

I had a pair of GAP sexy boyfriend jeans that I would roll a couple of times just because I thought I was supposed to. The inseam was 26, but the crotch was low. I had to roll wide to get them a handful above my ankle. I finally decided to move them along.

Earlier this summer, I bought of hiking pants from Athleta (pictured below). These have a 27.5 inch inseam, but an elastic at the bottom, so I think they scrunch a bit shorter. Do these work, or should they be higher/lower?

I'll take any helpful thoughts!
