Hi guys. Thanks for your suggestions! I've done some vigorous browsing of the Internet myself, and currently have the following contenders listed:

1. The Stutterheim Stockholm: Good length, maybe a bit labcoat-like.
2. Hunter Clear Smock in yellow chartreuse: Shorter than I would want, but I love the cut. Not sure about the seethrough quality.
3. Superdry Boat Duffel: Super cute, but short. (I'm thinking about maybe getting a short rainjacket to throw on for sudden showers, and then something heavy-duty for the seriously rainy days.)
4. Mint Velvet Parka: This looks oddly frumpy on the model (http://www.johnlewis.com/mint-.....olour=Grey) but could be her posture in the photo. Not sure this is water-proof?
5. NW3 Mia Trench as suggested by Inge: I like the look of this!
6. Seasalt Seafolly Jacket: Oh man, this is cute. The windswept seaside babes modelling the outerwear on this website are really making me fall for this, too.
7. Jack Wills Parka, via Inge: Love the grungey vibe. Looks nice and swingy in this pic, but straight in other ones (http://www.asos.com/jack-wills.....38;clr=Gre). Maybe a bit too flimsy as we're heading into autumn.

What do you guys reckon? Hood is not a must, BTW, as I'm addicted to hats and insist on wearing them even on rainy days :)

Here are some ideas, Eden. Not sure if all of them are water-repellant enough for what you are after? Warmth will be a factor too, I imagine, as you plan to wear them in Fall and Winter.

ETA: some of these don't have a hood, and I imagine you would like one?

So being the forum-shy creature that I am, I only ever seem to post on here when I'm looking for shopping advice — but there's just no place like YLF to connect with other savvy, fashion-forward ladies with a keen eye! So here goes:

I live in rainy England and my lifestyle means I'm out and about a lot in all kinds of weather, including the monsoon-style downpours of which we had rather a lot last autumn and winter. I've been borrowing my friend's sister's ratty old mac in emergencies, but it's been stored in a damp environment and has got mouldy, plus my cat chewed up the end of one sleeve (yep). . .and with the rainy season just around the corner, it's high time I find a stylish, but practical raincoat.

Unfortunately I do most of my shopping in charity shops these days, and raincoats don't often turn up there, so I have no idea where to look. Which is where you come in!

What I'm looking for: something knee-length or just above (waist- or hip-length won't do me), preferably in yellow, army green or navy. Interesting details of some kind are a plus. I need something in which I could comfortably be out in the downpour for quite some time, so unfortunately my fabulous asymmetrical Aquascutum sample-sale raincape won't do me. . .but I don't want something that looks too blatantly like "gear" either, if you see what I mean.

Any suggestions? Would love to brainstorm about this particular wardrobe dilemma with you guys.

Edie
