What a fun double celebration :0)

I like Julie's suggestion best. Hose, boots, blazer and bling. Lets see it!

Great suggestions!

I love the idea of texture hose and layering them may be just what I need to keep warm. And booties would look great. I don't own any, but they're on my wish list and that just gives me the perfect excuse to buy some! I do have a BF blazer, but I tried it on last night with the dress and it didn't look quite right. I'll post pics when I get a moment to get some other opinions. Right now, I have houseguests on the way and a not-so-clean house!

I plan to do a little shopping next week for new shoes/booties and possibly some sort of wrap/cardigan/jacket. There's no way I'm going near a shopping center today or tomorrow!

A couple of ideas about staying warm while looking glam (it's cold here too)!

1) You can treat the dress as a top layer and put something underneath. Do you have (or could you find) a lacy or metallic top with long sleeves that you could use as a glam underpinning? A belt would add definition to the look and keep you warmer.

2) You can put something over--a wrap, a shrug, or a glittery jacket. Something fitted and short would be especially nice, since the dress has a straight line.

3) Depending on how cold it is and how many layers you can tolerate, you could wear a solid color tight under a tight with a openwork pattern. If you use a contrasting bottom layer, you'll get the full impact of the pattern; if you do tone-on-tone, you'll just get a subtle hint of the pattern. Both are nice.

Stay warm and have fun!

I agree that it's probably best to opt for different shoes and wear hose-I feel warmer just thinking about that. But the one suitable pair I have are a 1/2 size too small and they kill my feet, so I'll need to go shopping for another pair.

The only jacket I have is a dark denim one that I often pair with this dress for everyday wear. I love the look of them together, and am not opposed to wearing it if it's my only option, but would like to mix it up a little more for NYE. Any alternate suggestions, even if I need to purchase something? It is my birthday, after all-the perfect excuse for shopping!

I think the dress is great too, and looks nice with the shoes, but it would look really fun with a pair of patterned hose- which yes you would want other shoes. Do you have some sort of wrap? Festive jacket or cardi?

the dress is great and the shoes look great with it. it looks like you are only a few pieces away from angie's party wear formula. i would be hesitant too about being cold and would probably opt for hose or tights and pumps. what other shoes do you have that would work?

i love the way you've draped the necklaces.

can you wear undergarments under the dress to make it warmer without making it look bulky? like a dress shaper?

I'm sooo excited! DH and I rarely (ok, never) go out for New Year's Eve. It's expensive, crowded, and without nearby grandparents, childcare is always problematic. This year, though, my in-laws will be visiting and have offered to stay with the girls while we go out with some friends. The plan is to possibly go to dinner then go out on the town. Oh, and New Year's Eve is also my birthday, so it will be a double duty celebration!

I need a killer outfit and would like to see if I can work something out of this black dress and these heels:

http://img.photobucket.com/alb...../006-2.jpg

The trouble is, the dress is very thin and I'm almost always cold. Do you think I can build a killer outfit with these items without freezing? I don't think I'll be outside much, besides walking to and from the car. Should I switch out the shoes for something I can wear with hose?

My budget and my wardrobe are limited, but I think I can probably splurge for a new item of two to help this outfit along. I envision something sexy, fun and worthy of a night on the town. Can I get there with with these items or should I start from scratch?

Thanks for the help!
