To say I'm unfamiliar with formal wear would be an understatement.</p> <p>I am am trying to pick between 2 pairs of shoes, both new. &nbsp;<br />One is an open toe strappy shoe- it is not all that comfortable, but to my eye it looks better with the dress. The other is closed toe and much more comfortable. It is also my favorite in terms of future use and my husband likes it as well.<br />The wrinkle: the event is 5 hours long with limited seating (!)&nbsp;and a 5 min walk to/from the hotel. My husband would prefer I prioritize comfort over shoe appearance- according &nbsp;to him "you can't even see the shoes, please wear something comfortable!"</p> <p>(1) The dress with the open toe shoe peeking out<br />(2) Close-up of the strappy shoe with dress hiked up<br />(3) dress with more comfy&nbsp;closed-toe shoe peeking out<br />(4) close up of closed-toe shoe with dress hiked up.</p> <p>Is it acceptable to wear the second pair with the dress or does it look strange?</p>
