Yess, I agree, higher rises and not that skinny hems is so easier to do in pants for me, too! This capsule looks so good, what about a warmer poncho to it?

Angie, I have been off my dresses for over a year now. Since I've gained weight it's opened up a new world for me in pants and jeans and I'm finding them much easier to fit. That, and the return of high rises! YaY!

Greyscale & fashionintern - it does seem like the lowest temps are going to be when we're sleeping, according to the hourly. I am just not used to dry rather than humid temps. When we were in Sedona this year, I got cold in the dry temps, colder than I would in similar humid temps. That's why I'm fretting.

Suntiger, I'm now re-thinking the jumpsuit. It would work with the jean jacket and I also have a light weight cream silk cardigan. But maybe to pack more economically I could just wear the black EF ankle pants with long sleeve top to be somewhat dressier.... I'll probably decide at last minute, space depending!

JAileen, 41 degrees for me would be way too cold! That's puffer weather!!! With socks and booties! I guess the good news is I've never been a morning person and no one in my family expects me to be one anytime soon. :-) I always pack sunscreen.

Runcarla, blush pink is tricky for me because I've got such red undertones and naturally pink skin. But yes I have a blush pink crossbody (not shown) and will very likely bring that instead of the other choices. Agree it works with yellow! And yes I did recently buy a cashmere sweater that is pink. Now you've got me wondering if I should throw in a lightweight cashmere or merino wool sweater just in case... but I do have the olive tunic sweater, which is linen and I suspect that'll be just the right sweater... hmmm.

I guess I could always buy a sweatshirt if I'm freezing! Or borrow one of hubby's!

Bring your black and white scarf, but keep your eyes open for a blush/pink one as a souvenir of your travels. I think a soft blush scarf would suit you, and be a good addition to your wardrobe. FWIW, blush and yellow are quite wonderful together. I've done it, as has Angie!

I want to add that you should take extra things if you’re worried about being cold. I don’t think you will be, but it might make you feel better, knowing you have them just in case.

Our low temp this morning at 6:30 was 41. At 8:30 I was sitting outside with a friend, in jeans, a tee, a lightweight sweatshirt and clogs (no socks), and was very comfortable. My friend had a heavier hoodie, and took it off. Now, at 11, it’s 65. So at 8:30 it was probably in the high 50s. It wasn’t cold.

Also what Karen said: sunscreen, lotion, lip balm, don’t forget to drink lots of fluids. You can get dehydrated surprisingly fast.

That all looks fine to me. 60s is still very comfortable i think, and a jean jacket should be plenty. What about having nude to you socks just in case? I like the jumpsuit a lot!

I was going to say the same as FashIntern: the low temp is probably after midnight, and evening might be 10 degrees warmer, in my experience with desert climates. I run warm so I’d probably be fine with a jean jacket or cozy light cardigan - but I admit I’m not great at figuring this out for travel and my outfits are less coherent as a result.

I like the jumpsuit, think they can stretch a long way from casual to dressy. What topper can you throw on over it?
It sounds like you want to take the blazer. Would you wear it with the same things you’d wear the jeans jacket with? Substitute it in.
Also, I feel so much warmer when I wear socks. Idk if you want to rock the sandals & socks look, but those sneakers could go with nearly everything, and they’d be fine with socks. A couple pairs of socks is a lot smaller/easier to squeeze in than a blazer.
One other hint: look for weather forecasts/reports that go by the hour. A mild evening with a tinge of coolness at the end, telling you the party’s almost over, is very different from the temps dropping as soon as the sun does, making for a chilly evening.
Have fun!

Sunscreen and an excellent moisturizer !! The sunlight and wind can be pretty intense even when the temps seem moderate, especially if you are any elevation.

Light windbreaker? It can be tossed on over layers to really help warm you. Sunglasses? Don't laugh - DH just moved to freshman dormitory in hot dry and blazingly sunny eastern Southern Cal and forgot hers.

60 in the desert won’t feel as cold as 60 with humidity, plus it will warm up rapidly. This morning I wore cropped pants, tee, light sweatshirt, and clogs. And that was plenty.

Runcarla, what color scarf? I don't have any olive or pink scarves. (Wardrobe hole perhaps). Would light blue work? Or black & white?

JAlleen, I was thinking long pants/ jeans in the morning with top and topper, then peel off the topper and swap into the shorts for afternoon. The long sleeve tops are all breezy and work fine in hot weather with shorts. I've got 70s and up temps down pat now... but when I see low 60s, which we haven't seen in months, I am stuck. I go back into my records and I was wearing much warmer, heavier stuff in those temps, including socks with booties! I don't want to overpack though. But I also don't want to freeze. It does seem according to my records from last fall I did get a lot of use out of the merino jacket over short sleeve top and lightweight jeans with slides... so... should I pack something like that for options?

We have those temperatures only 15% humidity. Today I am wearing Tencel utility joggers and a short sleeve woven rayon blouse with perforated loafers. When it is cooler, I put on a linen/cotton blend unlined blazer. You could wear the salmon joggers with brown or rust or yellow (mustard) or grey to give a fall look, Linen sweaters and long pants are perfect.
Your choices shown look great. Make sure you can roll legs of your pants to cuff for coolness if needed.

The big temperature swing means low humidity. Your capsule looks fine to me. I live in the desert and we are a little cooler than that now, and I like long pants and a topper in the morning, and shorts and a tee in the afternoon.

Looks good to me - but I would agree about a warm topper for the pm, and bring a scarf or two. Sometimes just a little extra warmth around the neck is all you need.

I have a 4 day weekend coming up --family reunion in CA desert. My uncle's 80th birthday. BBQ, wine tasting, in the plans. Weather is high 80s/90 during the day, down to low 60s in the evening. What to wear?

This is what I've got so far as possibilities. I think the "party" part will be casual (my aunt said dress casual for the whole weekend) but I do have this jumpsuit I am thinking about taking if I am feeling like dressing up a bit for it.

It's been pretty warm here (humid warm) so I think I have the daytime settled but I'm struggling about the low 60s evening part of the equation. Such a temperature swing. Should I bring a warmer topper?

For toppers right now I have a lightweight dolman sleeve dark grey fleece open cardigan (cut off in the image) that I plan to wear for traveling as it's super cozy. A jean jacket. And a poncho which is fairly light weight and breezy. Do you think I should make room for my merino wool Jcrew topper which is much warmer (more Fall weight)?

The olive joggers are for the travel back and forth, as it's going to be a very long trip plane + car ride (early morning / red eye), so comfort is key. Alternatively I have the same pair of joggers in salmon pink, which I've been wearing a ton this summer, but it's now September....
