In fact, the word bonanza may be a good fit with your experience of these boots. I looked up some gold rush slang, and liked this little research piece about the origins of the word bonanza:</p> <p>"Likewise, the term bonanza, meaning a rich strike or a “windfall,” was in use long before the California gold rush.
