Michelle, they didn't have the curvy back when I wore the long and leans, so that wasn't an option when I was curvier. But I have tried on both now, and they were both terrific! The only reason I didn't get them was that I was looking for straight-leg, not bootcut.

My recommendation would be to get a dark wash of each kind and see which you like best. The difference I think will be in the waist and the gapping, but I can't remember which was better; it depends on the size of your dupa! :)

Denim skirts, in my opinion, need to be tried on to determine fit. I can never figure out from looking at them or measuring them if they will work until I'm wearing them!

I returned my bf pullover sweater because it...drooped all around my middle. I was just a little bit too boy-friend-y for me. I thought the v-neck from BR had a better fit, but it was supposed to. It's a matter of preference, and the colors MC recommended would be great on you!

Thanks, girls! I've got lots to think about now, and only a day to do it in! :)
Will definitely do the dark-wash jeans, but not sure which style to get. Consensus seems to be for the curvy over the long and lean?
Am also thinking about these pants, but need opinions and a slightly more detailed description first. I was hoping to find microchecks, but no dice: http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=620845
This was the sweater I was thinking about:
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=648586
Are people agreed with Marianna that the Jay blue and orchid blossom would be the best colours on me?
I'm kind of intrigued by the other ruffle sweater she posted above, but can't picture whether these ruffles would look good with my chest. I think I'd likely feel more comfortable in a simpler cotton style. Thoughts?
Denim pencil skirt is definitely in the running, too, provided it doesn't look *too* casual. I'd get the AT one but suspect it wouldn't fit. Again, opinions welcome.

Thanks again, ladies!

I echo Sarah. I had the curvy fit on curvy clients last week and they look great. GREAT. Not sure about the quality though. I’m going to pick up a pair of new Gap skinnies for myself and test the quality. Will report back soonest.

I have the Gap denim pencil skirt, and I love it. High waisted pencil skirts don't look great on me, and the waist on the Gap skirt sits a bit lower. Sarah is right on...it's not dressy, but not super casual. I've thought about getting the gray one too.

Michelle, I love the Long and Lean jeans- and I agree that the dark wash is most versatile.

This is what I would buy!

Jeans:
Dark wash long & lean (pretty self explanatory!) -- http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=673950

I'm personally a fan of their Limited Edition collection (most of my jeans are these)

I have this pair:
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=673960

They're dark wash jeans with two cute pockets with bronze buttons on the front (not side pockets), and the same pockets with bronze buttons on the butt pockets. They're really comfortable and look dressy with the right top! I wear these to work often.

I am itching for a pair of grey jeans, and these are nice:
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=676869

Not sure what size you wear, but there is a pair of long and leans but only in a size 20 on sale for $21.99! They are also dark wash but with a bit more distressing.
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=316607

The boyfriend sweater is a great basic piece. Just a simple v-neck, but you can definitely dress it up and there are many great colors to pick from. The fabric seems luxurious too. My favorite colors are the jay blue (which is a bright turquoise, reminds me of a pretty peacock) and the orchid blossom (a dark pink bordering on purple... the color sort of reminds me of a rose wine. It's a hard color to describe but very feminine and reminds of me floral things. It's not pale though... it's a vivid shade.)

I have this sweater and love it:
http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=648595

It's a simple quarter length sleeve sweater with a few cascading ruffles on the chest. I have the orchid blossom color. It's almost like a maroon in person.

I couldn't find the wrap dress you mentioned!

I just went to Gap and tried on all of the new denim except the boyfriend which I don't know how I missed. I really liked the fit of the Curvy and the sexy bootcut and the Always Skinnies(shock!). I couldn't really make the L&L work because all of my hip curve is really at the back so they gapped on me a lot. I thought the denim pencil skirt looked great, but they didn't have my size. The dark washes are my preference just because factory distressing rarely works with my actual body.

Michelle, 99.9% of the jeans in my closet are Gap, and they are great for body types like ours. I'd stick with dark wash... I think they're more elegant, easier to dress up, and more slimming than a lighter wash.

I agree that a denim pencil skirt would be a great purchase!

I'll poke around on the site and come back with a few links and descriptions.

Hey Michelle! I haven't tried the Long and Lean jeans, but the Curvy fit are a dream come true for me. I have a bigger bum and thighs in proportion to my waist, so they work great for me. I tried various cuts and am impressed over-all with what the Gap has to offer. I like dark wash, but I've recently purchased a medium wash jean as well. I like that it has more texture, and it looks good when I wear darker tops like blacks and dark blues.
I think a denim pencil skirt would be fabulous for you. The Gap skirt is nice. It has some whiskering, which I personally don't mind. It's not super dressy, but not really casual either. I say try it! The Ann Taylor one I just got is a bit dressier, and very pencil shaped. The Gap one doesn'taper in as much as my AT one.
I just got my first boyfriend cardigan a few weeks ago. I really like them, especially with dresses and trousers. I'm not seeing a specific "boyfriend" cardigan at the Gap. Can you post a link?

What happens when the Gap holds a sale at a time when I have ready access to a U.S. delivery address and can therefore buy sizes not available at home?
I ask you for help with my purchases, of course! :)

I'm planning to keep it pretty simple, but I am seriously considering trying out the long and lean jeans that KristenKP has been such a strong proponent of. has anyone else tried them? Do you think they'd work on a body type like mine? Should I play it safe with the dark wash, or are some of the other washes more appealing?
I'm also considering buying their denim pencil skirt, depending on what you all think of it. If it works, it would close a gap in my wardrobe.
Also wondering about the boyfriend sweater (is it attractive and which colours would look best) and the wrap dress (description, please).

Thanks in advance for your help!
Aside: How great are these latest YLF innovations?
