You look so great running! And ARE great!
I like the shirt tank but really, these are static photos and you’re actually running, so I also would not fret.

I wouldnt tie up the top either, cause it stretches out the fabric. Keep it long for wearing with leggings or paired with a skirt in the same fabric- so it looks like a dress together! I did that with a teal tank and skort (buried in my finds). There are many shorter tanks available right now- more so than longer ones really.

Hi staysfit. Love reading your comments. The skirt functions well. I haven't encountered any blowing up problems and though it might look loose, the bike pants leggings underneath are body con, since I also have bigger thighs.
I am less wedded to tops and so happy to modify for appearance sake!

Anne, your outfits look amazing in every picture, I would be reluctant to make changes to improve looks, but if something about the function is not working than perhaps a change is warranted. I wore Skirtsports skirts exclusively when I ran and trained for marathons. They have amazing durability and IMO are both flattering and comfortable. The skirts worked well for me but not others because the fabric from the skirt could blow up while running if the fit was too loose. I eventually added bike short style running leggings to my gear when I realized they were attached underneath my skirts, and essentially made them function successfully. I used them when I wanted a more streamlined outfit with less “drag” from the wind. Classic running shorts caused chafing on my muscular thighs during long runs.....

For me the success of a running outfit is its function before its form. Does anything chafe? Does anything ride up or feel uncomfortable. Flat lock served seams, and seamless items are always best and soft non scratchy fabrics, etc. I ran with a team and I noted that we were superstitious about making changes to our gear once we had found something that worked well, regardless of its appearance. Sorry if I am not helpful here....

The skirt is from skirt sports. I have had it for years and it wears like iron. There are shorts underneath. Good pockets too!

A shorter top does look better. The long length does make your legs look very short. It would be easy to hem, even by hand. Could probably even do it with no-sew iron on hemming tape.

Angie - I think you are devaluing the word "killer" to use it on this outfit!! BTW The first 2 shots were taken at ground level - not sure how that affected the proportions. Any ideas! I know pink is good for me - that's not the issue here :-)

Brooklyn - thanks - I need sleeveless though - too hot otherwise.

To all who suggested I shorten it - I think I might - this isn't a big deal as it was cheap, and I have another workout top to wear with shorts or leggings

ClaraT - yes these are also parkrun pictures. Ruched top sounds good to me too!

I do a Park Run in San Francisco on Saturday’s and they take photos. Omg I’ve found out what doesn’t look good on me! So: onto you I love the color (pink) but actually agree with your assessment that shorter and/or tighter might look better in pics (as with your old cami). I like ruched-type tops where you can adjust the length; alternatively, shorter and looser. Run on, you look great!

I also wouldn’t fret about it. You look great.

But, if you are looking for some shorter, loose fitting tops, Seed has quite a few. I got this one - 100% cotton, shoulder coverage, inexpensive and nice high neck.

I would shorten the top starting with something simple like a semi tuck or knotting or a hack. The old shorter top looks much better. It may be the color, less contrasting.

I think you look great. You could cut it off but then maybe with leggings you might prefer it longer?

I probably wouldn’t worry but might look for a shorter version next time.

I'd probably opt for hemming or buying a tighter top so that it doesn't slide down. If you're not uncomfortable, I wouldn't even sweat it. (It drives me nuts when my tops slide down to my hips so I tend to opt for cropped or tops that are snug enough that they don't move.) You look fit and fab!

My first thought is that you look great in both, both are acceptable proportions, and really don’t worry about it. Enjoy the run. My second thought is that I have had a couple shirts hemmed 1-2 inches for them to fall better since I am petite. It may be worthwhile to hem a good quality running tank. I don’t like tucking or knotting a tank as it can create weird pulling when moving.

This is my default outfit for running. People sometimes don't even recognise me without that skirt! But these recent photos have made me think this top isn't too great with it, as it's too long.

For comparison, pic three is with a very old, not great, but shorter cami.

Tips for improvement? Tucking won't work. Shorten longer pink top? Do side knots like my teenage daughters? Love to hear your ideas.
