Final update: The Vigottis arrived from Zappos today, but they were painfully narrow in the toes. I went to the mall to do a bunch of returns and stopped into the Clarks store on a whim--I don't normally bother since my size is rarely carried in small retail locations--and totally fell in love with the Wessex Arms Pumps. I had seen the style on the Nordstrom and Zappos website but it wasn't available in my size... but I managed to luck upon it in-store, after all! SO comfortable, too.

My first pair of Clarks, but they won't be my last. I paid full price, which is extremely rare for me, but I'm so happy to have found shoes for my event and not have compromised on style or fit.

Thistle - Thanks for the suggestion! Alas, I have a pair of Cole Haan flats that took me weeks (and several skin tears from rubbing) to break in, so I'm wary of buying a brand-new pair of their heels at this point.

Charmian, thanks for the insole rec! I never realized that full inserts (vs. just small pads) could fit into dress shoes.

KL, one option is to buy a pair of classic black pumps (depending on your job, they could come in handy for work) and then buy some fun shoe clips to adjust it to your personal style. I did this for a pair of pumps that YLFers initially found too dowdy, but when I put a pair of vintage shoe clips on, the comments switched to "adorably retro!".

The other direction to go is to find a pair of pair of pumps that look good but perhaps don't quite pass the comfort filter and invest in a pair of good insoles. Most comfort complaints are about pressure at the ball of one's foot, which can be addressed by adding padding there and arch support (to shift weight back to your heel). Everybody's foot is different, but since your time is compressed I will say that I've found these insoles are slim enough to fit into all of my pumps (but the blue bottom will not work in a d'Orsay-style pump!).

Good luck! You have an enviable figure, and I love the graphic integrity of the print!

Not sure your budget, but there are very few shoes that are both comfortable and pumps.

The ladies over at Corporette recommend Cole Haan air pumps. I personally can't wear heels for long unless they are sitting shoes. S no dancing. Still, these might be worth a oak.

The Vince Camutos from Nordstrom arrived in record time (1 business day!), but while they run TTS, they don't feel especially comfy and I couldn't get used to the pointy toe. I'm in my early 20's and felt like the style was too classic.

Have now ordered the Vigottis from Zappos, and keeping fingers crossed!

#2 and #3 doesn't display for me, but judging by the description, suede mary jane wedges are out for me - such a type of shoes is for everyday wear, not for dancing. Same goes for #4. Simple pumps are best for such an occasion. So it all boils down to #1 - good choice and fingers crossed

After asking my roommate and my date, I decided to order the Vince Camuto in two sizes, and cross my fingers that they'll work. If not, I'll still have time to order emergency shoes from Zappos with their super-fast shipping. But pumps are not particularly good friends with my feet, so it remains up in the air.

I love the Vigottis. I think they capture the mood of the dress perfectly. My second choice would be the Vince Camutos. They are elegant and versatile.

I have a semi-formal evening ball coming up in just 2 weeks, and NO appropriate shoes! I'll be wearing the dress below, with black tights and possibly this gray beaded belt if the colors pair well in-person: http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....407347.jsp

So I want to find a pair of black dress heels, preferably ones that I can rewear for future events. Criteria: Must be size 5, which severely limits my brick-and-mortar options (I have a nearby but very small Nordstrom and an inconvenient but larger Nordstrom at King of Prussia; I've also been able to find my size at the outlets, but that's very hit-or-miss). My ideal heel height is 2.5", but 2-3" works--no lower because I'm 8" shorter than my date and the dress is a little long for me, as photo #2 illustrates. Also, price point should be under $150 and preferably below $100.

What I've managed to find online, ranked in order of aesthetics but not necessarily practicality or comfort:

1. Vince Camuto Goldie Pump in pewter: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/vi.....mp/3349812
I've never tried on VC shoes before, and my feet generally don't fare well with pumps (narrow heels tend to slip out) or pointy toes. But I love the texture and color of these shoes! Also, the heel is a little low, although it looks higher than 1.5" in the photo.

2. Vigotti Ulinda pump in black satin: http://vip.zappos.com/vigotti-ulinda-black-satin
Again, I have no experience or remembered anecdotes about the comfort of this brand. Another pump. My favorite heel height, but black satin is less durable and versatile than leather, if I have a more business-y dress event in the future.

3. Naturalizer Norra mary-jane wedge in black suede: http://vip.zappos.com/naturali.....lack-suede
Suede tends to be comfy and I've heard good things about Naturalizer. But I wish this heel was a bit higher because the style is pretty casual.

4. Aerosoles Sweet Escape mary-jane pump in black suede: http://www.aerosoles.com/eng/p...../sweet-esc
This one is priced very attractively, and I've had good luck in the past with Aerosoles comfort. I have tried this style before in-store in a size 5.5, but it was way too large (sometimes I can fit Aerosoles's 5.5, which is a standard store size for them). But would the gold trim be OK with the gray/silver belt that I'm pondering?

Thanks so much for any help you can give me! I've tried to follow Angie's PPP principle, but now I have a hard deadline and I haven't found anything in the previous few months of shopping. So even if none of these shoes are perfect, I need to order a couple so that I have doable shoes to wear at all.
