Finally getting back to this thread and wanted to thank everyone for your suggestions!

madeline, Haflingers had been on my radar but I haven't tried them yet. I appreciate your upvote!

Suz, I know you know the struggle is real. Yes, it's a tough balance to strike -- for me, I think the hard (but not noisy!) sole will be key to feeling "dressed enough." I'll pay close attention to whether things feel right in that regard, if I ever do manage to find a pair that fits and is comfortable. And thank you for appreciating my ye olde wandering minstrel image!

BrieN and Roberta -- thank you, those two possibilities both look quite promising!

Angie, oh yes, it does sound like we have a similar foot! I've had good luck with Dansko in the past. Perhaps these will be the ones!

These!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Q.....yp_imgToDp

We have the same size foot, SarahDH. I'm a US6.5 too :)

When I am not wearing my at-home-only ECCO sneakers, I wear these.

My stomping around the loft is as quiet as a mouse wearing these! Greg is most impressed. Not too much arch support, but a VERY supported sole for my metatarsalgia.

I'll be back when I have a bit more time. I have the exact same need for a house shoe but a different kind of foot so what works for me won't work for you. Having said that, I do have some thoughts. My main thought is that a slipper doesn't cut it for me. It feels neither supportive enough, nor "dressed" enough. But a lace up shoe would be the worst -- who needs that bother? It has to be easy on easy off!

I laughed out loud at the image of the lute!!

Have you tried Haflinger clogs?
Boiled wool, flat sole, very quiet.
Easy on and off. Also warm but not overly warm.

Kkards those Svens are really sharp! I am definitely open to a less clompy clog…though not sure I am up for trying 5-6 different brands at this point tbh.

Helena actually as I recall (it’s been a few years) the problem with the uggs was they had a weird rubby spot…so maybe it would indeed be worth trying a different style in the brand.

Sheryl I’m definitely open to proper shoes! Those M. gemis are nice, though a bit more low profile than what I’d like (I.e., too similar to the ones I already have).

NancyW I hope you find some good leads here!

Roberta I’m hoping for a backless style (I put my feet up and sometimes curl my legs under me as I’m working so the inside shoes are on and off 50 million times a day. But now you’re reminding me that I also need to replace my slip on Skechers and those Rykas look nice…

Val Norge fuzzy lining is not important! Definitely open to something marketed as a shoe. I looked around for mule style shoes a bit and didn’t see anything that fir the bill (maybe mules are not trending?) so wondered what other fabbers had seen around.

LaPed definitely open to wool felt! I’ve been kinda scared off German sounding brands bc of the arch support issue…worried they will all have those molded footbeds like birkies lol. I definitely like the look of the brands you suggest though!

Kate, oh FANTASTIC to know that glerups work for a low arch foot. That brand has just vaulted to the top of my list! And great that they have been such a long-standing solution for you! Fingers crossed….

I have some Vionic slippers that look like suede loafers. Look at their offerings. Mine work well. They stay on my rather narrow feet and can go outside. I have had mine in constant use for two years. I would buy them again. They are fleece lined so could be too warm for socks.

I like Glerups wool slippers. I also have narrow, low volume and low arch feet. Most shoes and slippers are too wide for me, but you may be able to size down as I did to reduce the width. As LaPed noted, you can also use wool felt insoles as I've done many a time to adjust the fit.

I've used Glerups as my indoor shoes (and occasionally outdoor ones for putting out trash or going next door) for over a decade. They have a leather sole and I think are available in a harder one too, and in various styles.

Hmm, is felted wool too slipper-y?
Do you have better luck with Euro sizing than US?
My first thought is slides from Kyrgies, Glerups, or Giesswein.

https://us.giesswein.com/colle.....l-slippers
https://kyrgies.com/collections/womens
https://www.glerups.com/collections/slip-ons

I'm pretty sure Kyrgies sells insoles to customize for lower volume (but honestly wool felt insoles are an easy DIY in any shoe). I think all three offer a range of outsoles, some more structured and some less. Leather will be the least clompy, but feels less shoe-like.

Is it important for it to have a fuzzy lining? If not, it seems like the hard sole and the half sizes would be easier to find by looking at regular shoes in mule styles. But I saw that some or all of your already-trieds were fuzzy or shearling lined.

my winter wear around the house shoe is a clog. i don't have the clomp issue with them, but i do with other mule styles, i think its a matter of finding the right style/cut. if your willing to try another brand, i highly recommend Sven. i think i tried 5 or 6 brands and i found this one to be soooo good

For the last several years I have been on a quest for cold-season house shoes/slippers for my work-from-home wardrobe.

I have a couple pairs of flat mules (one pair embroidered velvet, one metallic) that I wore for a while but I started to want something with a little more heft. The existing shoes are so low-profile that if I am wearing them with skinnies or especially leggings I start to feel like I ought to be strolling around with a lute or something iykwim.

But, I have had a terrible time finding a style I want that will work for my feet! The problem seems to be two-fold:

I am between sizes in footwear that is marketed as a slipper. Size 6 is just a hair short (I'll be wearing this footwear with socks, not bare feet), and size 7 is super wide and floppy. (I have narrow, low-volume feet).

A lot of the more substantial, less-bedroomy slipper styles on the market have a lot of arch support/"anatomical footbed." Not good for my low-arch feet. Like walking on rocks!

Here is what I am looking for:

Flat/low heel

Mule/backless slip-on style

Hard sole

Looks more like it belongs with clothes than pajamas if you get my drift...these are shoes I am going to be wearing for my workday

Gray, cognac, or tan

Minimal arch support

Bonus points if it comes in half sizes

Not too clompy/loud (my husband's work space is directly below mine, I have a pair of Swedish slip-on clogs that I used as house shoes for a long time but they drive him nuts)

I am open to either something marketed as a shoe or something marketed as a slipper. I will pay up to $150US without qualms. For the exact right thing that will last for-freaking-ever I would go up to $200 but I might roll my eyes.

Here's what I have already tried:

Hive mind, please work your magic! Save me from my annual October ritual of ordering a bunch of slippers from Zappos, returning them when they don't fit, and doing without for another year! Thank you thank you in advance for any help.
