Great suggestions, all! Thanks so much. I think I've found some good possibilities. I'll start another thread to get some votes on those.

Blargh. I know the feeling. Try Athleta too - they have some underwire styles in bra sizes. I am disappointed in Title Nine. They have a great bra selection but the swimsuits all seem to be for the chest-free.

I would try Land's End as well. I was just at a Sears store 2 weeks ago and they had a great selection. I tried a few different styles on. Great support in the bust and in the stomach area.....

Melissa,

I like underwire, but actually don't like all the extra fabric of "Miracle suits" as they make me hot and feel constricting.

I do like one-pieces, and despise tankini's (they flop around in the water).

I've had my eye on this one-piece Althea suit which comes in a large range of bra sizes and has an underwire. Also comes in solid black and berry.. http://tinyurl.com/6jfaafv

Have not tried it, Let us know what works for you!

My Nordstrom just got Freya swimsuits, which have underwire and are designed for the well endowed...

I know these are not exactly what you were looking for, but they might be worth a try. I've heard the fit is phenomenal.

Hi Melissa, good luck with the "cossie" shopping. I'm a late convert to the "miracle suit" style of swimming costume, having wasted years in unflattering regular "racing" and "model" styles. Really supportive costumes in trendy styles are definitely out there but you have to make your search words specific - lots of swimsuit manufacturers will not have anything at all in their range of this sort - as they are more expensive to make.
The "figure flattery" type of constructed cossie is therefore pricier, but is worth every cent for the shaping it imparts. The secret is in all the nifty concealed reinforcing, and additional fabric everywhere it counts. You really have to see yourself in one of these top quality garments to appreciate the difference. The beautiful fabric is not skimped in these sophisticated costumes, whereas cheaper costumes are usually flimsier and made of thinner, more basic fabric.
I am sure Angie and the others will know what brands to look for locally. I got my beautifully made "figure flattery style" costume at the store below last year, http://www.suerice.com.au . Mine is a brilliant teal blue, a fabulous sassy fifties retro style, and I especially like its torso ruching, which is adjustable!
The Sue Rice site is worth a read, as it has heaps of info that may help you to fine tune what you need in a supportive swimsuit style before you hit the shops again - even how to properly fit a swimsuit that you have ordered online!

Landsend! I suggest calling and asking for swimsuit help. Back when I was nursing and more generously endowed, a customer service person helped me find one that worked well.

If you order from a Sears location with Landsend in the store, you get free shipping. And if you don't like the suit(s), you can return stuff to Sears with no return shipping charges.

Thanks! I really like this one (link below) in either the red or the raspberry, but can anyone speak to how supportive Land's End suits are? I'm concerned because it doesn't have an underwire. Love the style, though.

It takes a long time to rebuild a wardrobe from scratch, and I am just now getting around to admitting that I want a swimsuit! I'll be traveling to Louisiana for the first time in June, and will have some free time to spend at the hotel pool. I'd really love to have a suit to do some lounging and lazy paddling in.

But, when I went to Nordstrom and tried some swimsuits on, I was shocked by their lack of support for the girls! In an ideal universe, this is what I want: a solid color one-piece suit in a v-neck style with an underwire and hopefully some shirring at the stomach. I'd like a warm color, like a coral, or something purple/fuchsia, or even a warm-toned neutral, but I'd compromise on color if I could get proper chest support. And as long as I am wishing for things, I'd prefer more chest coverage rather than less--some of the suits I tried on were too low cut even for me, and I wear lower-cut tops often.

I looked through several online retailers (ie, 6pm, zappos) and didn't find anything quite right. So, has anyone seen my swimsuit? Where should I look?

Thanks for any suggestions.
