The dress is nice, but it's not what I'd consider evening. It's that lux stretch jersey (or whatever Express calls it) and it catches lint very easily and just doesn't look nice for long. The shape is beautiful on you, though. Do you have time to shop at more places now? He prefers the drapey bodice of the AP dress versus the plain one on the Express dress, but I much prefer the way the straps of the Express dress sit on my wide shoulders. This is something I have to deal with all the time with sleeveless tops and dresses, so I love it when the straps are set wider Looks like the Express dress is the winner! I also have a gold specked jacket from ATL that would look perfect with it for the Holiday parties. I really enjoyed our special night; especially since we have had company at home constantly for over 2 months now. It was just the two of us and Boi and it was wonderful. Aah, that explains it Angie! No wonder the word sleeveless in your first comment kept coming back to me and I kept wondering why you would describe the pink dress as sleeveless! I'm sorry for the confusion, I should have labeled all pictures correctly. Anyways, I did bring home the pink and another black AP dress (I swear I'm not obsessed!) and modeled it for DH. He still just couldn't get himself to like it over the others. Of course, it isn't that I ask him to approve all that I buy and wear; but I have learnt that he usually is right *grin* He really liked the black AP (sleeveless) dress but was also sorry it was black and not in a color. And the Express/AP sleeveless dress seem to fill that void in my wardrobe. Especially since, now that I have been thinking about it, the office holiday party will be coming up in a few months. It just started raining cats and dogs around 5pm and didn't stop until around 8 pm. So, we just had dinner by candle light at home with one of our favourite meals - fresh bread, cheese and wine. I'm easily confused). Looks like you have several pairs of black strappy sandals. I think the strappiest pair would work with the pink dress. Add a simple black clutch (do you have one?), and you should be set. The pink dress makes a great statement on its own, so you don't have to be fancy with the accessories. I went back today to Marshall's and tried on a smaller size. For whatever reason, I like this much better. Almost like the ruffles aren't as ruffle-y anymore. I like it a lot now! Sarah, So glad you commented. I just cannot get over how beautifully you wear the purple AP dress. It looks fantastic on you! I did size down and like the fit much better. It may not be noticeable to everyone but I can see a difference. I also actually found another AP dress, in black, today (Marshalls keeps surprising me). The bottom half is similar to the dress you have, and the top is matte jersey with a cross bodice and is sleeveless. I liked it a ton too so I brought home also. But I think the pink dress is really growing on me the more I think about it I wish I could keep both dresses! I didn't have much luck with shoes and clutch at Marshalls or Target. I keep mentioning these 2 stores only since they are a half mile away from where I work. Don't have the time to get to the mall. Do they have one so you can compare? The one I got is a size FOUR and I usually take a size 8 in AP dresses, maaaybe a 6. I think this dress was cut big, but I like wearing it more fitted because I think it makes it more elegant. But what do I know. Maya, I already tried getting him to go into a little detail about what he doesn't like about the dresses that he doesn't but he says he can't wrap his head around it. Me thinks he thinks it a little bit more girly than what he associates with what I usually wear. Nevertheless, I just think it is a matter of showing it to him in person, with the accessories and all.
