Reason why I prefer puffer coats is a hood. On my daily comute I have to pass through a very windy park and I like to put my hood on to protect from the wind. I love the color on you (and I think it's so important this is your "happy red") -- but the fit also seems just so much better. I really dislike when I consign or donate something that was costly and I ended up not wearing it, but sometimes that happens .... and we just have to move on. While on the other hand I stopped wearing this red coat few years ago because I felt somehow off in it.<br /> La Ped also has great point abot the need for long red coat. Thing is my window for wearing wool coat is very short. I get cold easily and I commute by public transport and on foot, so most of the winter I am in puffer coat. Just two weeks ago I was still in my puffy and then straight to trench coat. And today already it is short sleeve without the jacket. I may get more use in the fall though but not more then few weeks. And I do already have before mentioned black coat, another very old camel coat and a yellow Boden coat from last season that I wear the most. I did not refresh my coat capsule for many years until last year, because all my coats are good quality and in good condition and it feels silly to replace them. But is it 4 too much for such a short season? I have only 3 puffer coats and I wear them from November to March. I'm more drawn to cool reds myself, but I think the warmer poppy-red looks very good on you. Are you certain the new coat will get more wear than the old one, or is it time to re-evaluate your need for a long red coat altogether? The older coat has a very classic shape, and I actually think it creates a better line over the cropped wide legs. I bet it looks wonderful over skirts/dresses too. Sleeves might be a tad long on that one? The Boden coat definitely feels more modern, and I think it would be the better of the two over slim bottoms -- skinnies, pencil skirts, etc. I like the visual effect of the bold buttons on the new coat; it looks to me like they end a little higher up than the buttons on the old coat -- will that make the coat drafty? I'm not sure the pockets would be a deal-breaker for me. I could never tell wich color looks better on me, so I always go with whichever I like more and which color makes me happy. New Boden coat is slightly in the lead, and Angie also like that one better. I never regretted listening to her opinion so I am leaning towards keeping and donatthe old one. There is one issue with the Boden coat that I forgot to mention that bugs me, but not sure if it is a deal breaker. It does not have useful pockets.
