There is a way to keep the original edge and yet shorten the pants. And they do need a lot of shortening.</p> <p>On the inside, above the released hem portion, make a fold that shortens the pants as much as you need to. Then make a seam at that point that shortens the pants. So the fold and seam are just above the released hem portion.</p> <p>Does that make sense? I would start by checking out the petite. That might offer the simplest solution, if ON has these jeans in petite. They have a released hem, which I really like the look of, but they are too long. Help me decide what to do about the length please! #2 shows them folded up a bit, but it cuts off most of the released hem. #6 shows what it would look like to cut off the released hem and move it up, but I think it's too wide and bulky. Should I just cut off the entire released hem portion, or maybe return and look for something in a petite?<br /> Opinions needed! </p>
