Thanks everyone! Will definitely keep the AGs I also tried on the Hudson Krista, but they just fit oddly on me.

Tanya -- Interestingly enough, both of these pairs are machine wash and dry! I'm a little surprised by that -- I'll probably end up doing the AGs in the hand wash cycle and drip drying them.

Una -- hm, I have no idea! I have a feeling they are the same thing...

The AGs have less folding around the thigh and calf. But otherwise, they look quite similar. You look great in these!

The AGs. I'll also add that my Rich & Skinny pair (of which I'm neither!) have held up tremendously well and have very little wrinkling. Are coated and waxed the same thing?

I also prefer the AG pair. I don't know if you already have some waxed pants and what the care label says, but mine are "dry clean only". I do not mind that per se, but if they do stretch out with wear they will stay like that as dry cleaning wont shrink them back like washing would.

I'll just chime in to say I also prefer the AG pair - the JBrand's have a little too much fabric that bunches out.

Rae -- that makes sense about the creases!

Janet -- Ooo, thanks for the pics. I like the jeans with that coat! Are those the blackberry color of the jeans? I got the color by accident (thought I ordered black) but I quite like them.

Zap -- no worries Your comments are helpful as is. I did order my normal size at first but honestly they were really uncomfortable, even after wearing around a bit. I'm with you on not oversizing skinnies -- they just start fitting really funny.

I really cannot make out the details. I am of zero help.

My fifty is that you should go for your normal size. I actually posted a similar question a few days ago, and ended up reordering in my normal size. I have determined I am not keen on oversizing skinny jeans (or anything else for that matter), unless they were cut to be intentionally oversized. I know I am in the minority. I prefer to wear the item as it was intended at the design stage and I do not manipulate fit by sizing up or down. It feels odd to me.

I would say wear them for a while, and see if they start stretching too much.

Janet, I love your outfit. Sadly, I returned my coat so I cannot replicate. The cut was to boxy for me. It was not flattering from the side.

Cathy, here's one outfit with the waxed jeans.

I am pretty sure most all pants wrinkle at the back thigh because of the ease for movement. Even when they are tight, you get the crease, only the crease cuts into the leg making it look like a cased sausage. This does not look to be an issue in either of these at all. I think I prefer the AGs because the J Brands seem to have much more fabric in the wrinkle area that kind of puffs out to the side.

Great to see Janet has experience with the stretching - I don't know how thick yours are, but IME thin waxed denim looks kind of weird bagged out.

bj -- thanks, a superfab butt is always a goal :)

Janet -- Have you posted pics of your AGs here? I'm going to poke around. I think this finish is the most leatherlike out of all the wax-coated jeans I've seen. Good note about the stretching -- they are pretty comfortable as is. And your thighs are not big, from what I've seen

I like the AG pair too. I think those are the same AGs that I have. Caution, they do not stretch out as much as I thought they might -- contrary to what the SA told me, they barely stretched at all. Mine wrinkle/crease at the back too, but I thought that was just because my thighs are big. That is clearly not an issue for you, so I guess it's just what they do.

i get the wrinkling too, but i don't mind as long as the front view and the side butt view are flattering.

i have a tiny preference for the ag because it fits better at the back waist and makes your butt look superfab with less bunching.

So, in contrast to the silhouette of the Leith pants, I'm interested in exploring waxed skinnies.

Not sure about the fit of the ones I've tried on. They tend to wrinkle/crease, particularly in the back area, and I don't know whether that's normal but I'm just noticing it more because the waxed-jean fabric is stiffer than regular denim, or if it's a matter of sizing and fit.

The jeans in these photos are a size up from my normal size. I suspect the pants will stretch out a bit after wear.

1-3: AG Leatherette
4-6: J Brand 901

Thanks for your help!
