LaPedestrinne AKA Shoe Twin: I'm really curious to try the Blundstones, they have such a good reputation.
Joy: I think my feet must be getting wider. The Fly Londons worked perfectly in San Francisco in June and made me miserable in Santa Barbara two weeks ago. I'll definitely be looking for comfort.
Suz: For Round Two, I'm definitely ordering the Blundstones. Great information, thanks.

As Angie said, go for comfort- You will want good support and a good grippy sole for those hard slippery museum floors and steps. I love the looks of the Cole Haan but do not find that brand very comfortable, but we each have different feet and needs. My Aquaphor and Born booties are my most comfortable.

Hah, Bonnie, I think we are shoe twins. I have a wide forefoot and narrow heel, and I adore black chelsea boots. A couple of these are on my wishlist: the Timberlands and the new heeled Blundstones (I already have a flat pair -- one of my comfiest shoes). I've tried the Fly London Phil and it didn't quite fit me: the 39 a bit too short but the 40 was huge, and I didn't love it enough to keep it and buy insoles for it. Also, one of my co-workers is a huge FL fan and it's a defining element of her style that I didn't feel like infringing upon. I can't wait to hear which ones you choose!

Thanks ALICEWONDERLAND, GRETCHEN, NIKI LEA, KAREN13, and SUZ. I've ordered the Naturalizers, Cole Hanns, and Timberlands but if I don't love them, I'll definitely try these suggestions. My toe box is on the wider side of regular so I have to balance the sleeker look I'm going for with comfort and that can be difficult and take a lot of try ons to achieve.

For myself, I like the refined vibe of the Cole Haans for city wear...but they also look like they might be "harder" and fit more narrowly and they don't necessarily work as well for your style.

From that point of view, the Timberlands might be great, or the EF ones that Gryffin recommended.

Or, indeed, the Blundstones. Blundstones are the urban boot in much of Canada, at least for people between ages 20 and 60 or thereabouts, and if they work for you, they are super durable and reliable. I used to wear them constantly and loved them. I have a hard time getting the right fit in them now and they aggravated my plantar fasciitis, so I had to give them up (at least temporarily) but for 3 decades I was never without a pair.

This style is a bit different -- a newer "women's" version with a small heel. I wore the unisex ones, usually the chisel toe because it looked a bit more refined to me. But I have seen women wearing the heeled version here in Vancouver and it looks good.

Lateto theparty, but I’m looking forward to your review. I really like the look of the Timberlands and the Cole haans. The Eileen Fisher have a great look, But I personally am trying to avoid suede as it takes a beating in my world.

I'm super partial to Blundstones, so I vote for them. They keep my feet warm and dry in the rain, and they're just polished enough. Also, I've never seen the 1671s before - that heel is cute!

I like the cold haan and timberlands. Gore and tab help make a Chelsea boot comfy in my opinion and the heel styles are the most versatile.

I have the EF Waterproof swish bootie. It's got a great lug sole and has held up well to the elements. The wedge and thick sole is extremely stable and because it does not bend a lot at the fore foot it's particularly good for problem feet. I have these in leather as well, I liked them so much.

ALL: This has been fun and thanks so much for your input. I ordered the ones with the most recommendations, Timberlands, Naturalizers, and Cole Hann each got three votes so they are on the way. If these don't work out, I'll order the others.

I like the Cole Haan (very simple), but think they might be not chunky enough for you (?)

I have a sugar eye for the Naturalizers, and see them often here in stores. I've been tempted myself, but they do look more like a casual outdoor boot than a true polished cheese, and I can see that they might not be the best replacement. I just bought a pair of chelseas in polished black leather from Browns, and am loving their comfort factor. I too get that baby toe thing happening in other boots.

My chelsea boots have been workhorses for four years. They still look good but recently when I walk long distances, my baby toes start screaming. I'd like to replace them with more comfortable boots that will go the distance. I will be wearing them mostly in cities and art museums, and I'd like them to be appropriate for year round. Any input will be appreciated. I plan to order three pair for a try on session. The last pair are the ones that I am replacing.
