I came across number 1 in the store yesterday and was surprised when I really liked them. They do seem more refined. I like them a lot. My only hesitation was that number 2 has a higher shaft and actually fits me - a small miracle - so thinking of Angie's notes on higher shafts being more in style it gave me a dilemma. But to be honest I really think 1 will work well for me and I like that they're refined with nothing on the front of the boot thus elongating the lines.
