I really like all these tops! Reminds me to look at Ann Taylor more but the shipping charges. How do companies still have them?!

wow - interesting minds think alike - today I was thinking - maybe a top with a gentle peplum would work.
As far as third pieces go I have several that would work brilliantly.

Okay so Suz you inspired me with the finds to ann taylor - I always forget to look at them.

Now I have picked out three more shirts and really think these will work.

Okay so this 2nd round I'm really liking

I like the idea of a closer fitting top with an a-line skirt. The gentle peplum Suz suggested too. I think the more boxy/blousey types might compete with the volume of the skirt.

Another option would be some kind of peplum top -- not an exaggerated one but a gentle one. I think you have one, don't you?

Hmm, the two striped tops look interesting on their own, but maybe too wide over an a-line skirt? And though I love the elephant print, I wonder whether the gray color would seem drab with the dark blue. Overall, I like the white top best--it has a classic silhouette with a beautiful neckline, and looks cool for Summer. I would add a 3rd element, I think: an easy cardigan or jacket, even a pendant, for finish. I don't know why skirts are so much trickier than pants, but when you find one that flatters you, it's worth the hunt for a top that works!

Missed you, FrannieB! Glad that dressing is easy.

I'm struggling with the same issue as it happens...I have a wild card A-line skirt when I am used to pencil or tube skirts. And I'm having a bit of trouble with a top.

You can wear one that tucks in but that might feel too staid.

A cropped lightweight knit top could be good. Angie has a few from Ann Taylor - I'll try to snag the Find and place it here. This is just for an idea - you might want one with different neckline, etc. depending on your preferences.

I like all of these but since the skirt is a little fuller I would stick with a slimmer top. It looks like the last two could work. I find skirts can be hard sometimes for just this reason.

ladies thank you so much for helping me think through this skirt - I do not normally tuck shirts maybe a closer cut shirt. I was also trying to push myself into some colors so I am going to look for some pink or floral.
I love this skirt just need to find the right toppers so I don't have a skirt orphan.
The different shape is giving me a tough time.

And yes Carter I am now on summer hours - so this is when I really have fun playing with my wardrobe.

I like Rachylou's idea of shorter boxy cropped at the waist top with a tank.
Of those above, I like the elephant top best and the blue/white inky stripe.

Hi Frannie! Maybe a shorter, boxy crop to show off the top of the skirt? I wear tanks tucked in, underneath to block drafts...

I like the sleeveless Options because they appear less voluminous. Perhaps you tuck your tops in, but I'm someone who doesn't. With that being the case and the skirt having more volume than your normal pencil skirts, I would go for a shorter trimmer top (whether sleeved or not).

Great to see you here, Frannie. With all the texture on the skirt, I'd keep the top simple. You could do a column of black with a black top...something like your 4th find in black or even a black or white tee. I think the elephant top might work and worth a try. The first two seem like they would be too busy with the skirt's texture.

Good morning all YLF folks - Long time now post - I read daily for inspiration and wisdom from this bunch. So many days I get dressed and thank YLF for making it easy.

So I am trying to avoid a skirt orphan I have found this fab blue skirt with an A-line look - that looks good on me. those who remember me know a pencil skirt is my normal skirt of choice - this a-line looks good on me and I want to get.
Thing is I am stumped with tops I would wear.
Include below is the skirt - it is hard to see but it has an all over crochet pattern - and some ideas I have for tops - I would like to get two tops - I have several tops that would match already - but they are heavy rotation tops that often end up in a laundry bottleneck.

Top 5 is a total wag - I happen to love elephants
All advice appreciated
