Oh, I was avoiding Hue after my negative experience with two of their styles, but I think that only applies to the 2 for $14 styles in the yellow packaging.

OK, Hue it is! There was a whole wall full of them. I also loved the Betsey Johnson lace tights in the YLF store, but they are long gone. Drat.

Thanks Angie!

You should try “Hue” hose at Macys. They do great textured black hose and copied the Chanel colourblocked “half black half white” style too! I have big checked block designs from Hue which I adore. Very mod.

Nordies does the best in-house sheer black polka dot for $10. (Nordstrom brand). They also do an in-house sheer black diagonal diamond that is fabulous for $10 too.

Try Express. They have specials at the moment and their patterns are fun. I have seen most of them on and was quite impressed.

Medusa, did you find a puffer? I'm glad the trip was worth it for you!

Bumping for Angie:

Since I know my long-windedness probably drives you batty:

I'm looking for argyle/diamond prints, herringbone or pinstripe, large scale floral patterns (like so), sheer dot patterns, color blocking (like those fab black and white) Chanel tights I'm sure you have seen), and maybe backseam tights. I love their vintage appeal.

Obviously I will not be getting all of these at once! I already got the Oroblus on ebay so I can at least cross black microfishnets off my list.

Maya, I don't have great hose advice but I can sympathize with your bad experience at Macy's. I found a good coat there last weekend but it really was amazingly overwhelming. I can't believe how packed it was! Probably it will be better after the holidays...

Maya, If you are looking for non-clothing purchases, Macy's will have good linen sales come January.

Sorry you had such a difficult time in the hosiery section! I'm very intrigued by this layering concept for hosiery.

Thanks Sara! And welcome BTW.

I did not find Oroblu at Macy's (or anywhere for that matter--I think it must be ordered online), and I checked the DKNY section. All they had were sheer hose. I wonder if the fishnets were a one season type of thing. I scoured the hosiery section pretty well and couldn't find any, so I'm pretty sure I'll have to get them somewhere else...I just don't know WHERE! I found the Wolford ones but the price was so high it gave me a nosebleed. If all else fails I guess I'll just bite the bullet and get them online.

Hi, Maya -
I'm really new to YLF, but just spent time looking at lots of old posts and getting caught up.

I saw one where Angie mentioned how Oroblu are her micro fishnets of choice. (I was at Nordstrom's Mall of America yesterday and found some in nude ;-), but in that same topic she talked about DKNY recently making a micro fishnet. She hadn't checked it out, but usually DNKY is nice quality.

So if you want to utilize the gift card toward hosiery, a large flagship Macy's should definitely carry all the DKNY selections. (If you're up to a return visit!!)

Others may actually have personal experience with other brands.

If you should decide to try the Oroblu, I can add my recommendation too. I sized up as I usually do and they felt really good. The micro fishnet feel was fun too!

Sara R.
P.S. I tried searching for the exact thread, but no luck yet. I'll keep looking. . .

I have a $30 gift card for Macy's and I have no idea what to use it on. Here is my back story (you can skip everything between the asterisks if you don't care):

***
I was in NY yesterday and most of today to stay overnight with a friend who was in town. I decided to be brave and head out to Macy's to use my card. When I say "brave" I am not exaggerating. The Macy's flagship is OVERWHELMING as it is, but this was the Macy's flagship 3 days before Christmas. It was an absolute zoo. I have never seen anything like it. Never before have I seen so many people congregated anywhere for anything (outside of an airport or other travel hub).

Anyway, the hosiery section is in sort of a weird and obscure spot in the building and I figured it wouldn't be as congested there. But it was really hard to shop there because the section was small and there weren't a lot of samples so I had to do some guess work trying to figure out how all these options would look. I wanted micro fishnets and liked the idea of: swiss dot/tulle patterns, floral motifs over sheer hose, and argyle. I ended up finding some strong contenders but they all failed me.

-the micro fishnets are MACRO fishnets--ugly
-the floral pattern on the second tights were extremely subtle and hard to see
-the argyle pattern was also difficult to see

So I went back to return all 3 and it was an even bigger mess. I was going to browse around for an exchange but I just couldn't stay. Everything was disorganized, the sales staff was grumpy (I don't blame them), and there were people pushing and shoving all over the place.

***

Having been sufficiently traumatized, I would rather buy online but they don't seem to sell hosiery on their website! Or if they do I am having an impossible time finding it. I could go back after the holiday season dies down but I'm just not that impressed with the selection. I'm having a really hard time finding a good pair of micro fishnets on my budget and really hoped Macy's would have something but I didn't find anything. What brands make them, to your knowledge? Are any of them sold in department stores?

If I forget this whole hosiery thing, what else can I use this gift card on? There are a lot of things I want, but I have taken care of a lot of them by now. Hose was really the top priority. I would rather not spend more than $10 over the value of the card.
