How do you care for linen Ts? I'm intrigued by the coolness, but the one I purchased years ago was scratchy and the seams twisted up when I machine washed delicate and hung dry. I think it was inexpensive - is that the problem? What should I look for quality wise?

We're ISO of the same items. I bought quite a few J. Crew linen tees and gave them away the same season. They stretched out horribly, they were a tad too sheer, and the stitching/lines were mediocre. I recently tried on an EF tank, but recall it being slightly sheer.

Gotcha. Well, I'm glad you asked, as I hadn't thought to see if they were in stock again :). Wish I hadn't missed the navy and red last year though, the colours this year aren't really on my "list".

Thanks @Elizabeth P! Yes, I did order the ones from BR, but I am looking for one with slightly shorter sleeves. i did like the thickness of the linen, though. Zara is a good option I had forgotten about - will try there!

This is not at all helpful, but I found my perfect linen tee at BR last summer. I am praying they bring it out again, because I discovered it was so perfect after most colours had sold out. I bought two black ones, and if it shows up again, I'll stock up. I seem to recall they had it in white, which I found thin, but the black isn't at all. So this is just a heads up to keep your eye on them, just in case. Find below.

I was on a bit of a linen tee mission last year, had a pretty good success rate finding ones with free or minimal shipping cost to Canada...Zara, BR. I also got a Madewell one from Nordies. Keep your eyes open, and try anything you can. And post if you find something awesome

I'm looking at the latest Boden catalog, and they have 4 styles, in a variety of colors: a baseball style; a swing style; a v-neck; and a relaxed one. 100% linen, machine washable, US$58.50. Colors are khaki, coral, white, iris, striped navy/white, and solid navy. The v-neck one looks like it might be what you're looking for.

FWIW, I bought two linen tees from LOFT last summer and the quality was awful. One twisted up at the seams and shrunk in the first wash (cold water, line dried) so that it was always off-kilter. The other one developed a hole after six or seven wears.

Thanks Angie! I had forgotten about Loft. This looks similar to the BR long-sleeve tees i bought this fall and have work non-stop. For summer I am looking for a short sleeve or tank style, and a little more fitted cut.

Ooh, count me in as another who's extremely interested in this thread. My long sleeve linen tees were staples over the winter, and I'd love a great short sleeve or tank version.

I'm interested in this thread as well. Most linen tees I come across, such as at Banana Republic, are too sheer. I have a nice one from Eileen Fisher but it's not fitted (which is fine with me, but I get you not wanting a slouchy one).

Help! I've been looking for the perfect linen tee and it's nowhere to be found. I thought I would wait until later in the season but Angie's post this morning made me realize that i better get on it!

I'm looking for something that has:
- substantial linen with a good drape (nothing cheap that shows through)
- a relatively deep v or scoop neck
- short or cap sleeves (even a tank style is fine)
- can be dressed up - don't like the super casual ones with rolled/wrinkled necklines or drooping chest pockets
- relatively fitted with a little bit of blousing (I've trimmed down, and don't want to cover up with a huge slouchy tee!)

- Available in Canada/online shipping to Canada

I picked up this Rag & Bone cotton tee (pictured in Finds below) at Winners last week and I'm in love with the way it fits - would love something with a similar cut.

I've tried the BR version (sleeves were too long) and the ones on the J Crew site look too casual (hello rolled necklines and drooping chest pockets.)
