Knit blazers are often shoulder pad free. I would try those. Good luck shopping!

You also might try Target if you're interested in knit jackets as alaskagirl suggested. I like them for my big shoulders - as well as non-shoulder padded jackets for more structure than knit. I don't know what they've got this year (or if you're interested in a lower price point), but I have two that I've picked up over the last couple years.

Here's where I would start as a fellow broad shouldered petite - buy a structured knit blazer of good quality and cut the shoulder pads out if you can. I have a really nice BCBG one from a couple of years ago from Nordie's. It conforms to my shoulders rather than adding to them.

In all seriousness though, it's hard to say whether you actually look like a linebacker or whether you're just not used to the look I haven't noticed that strong of an 80s reprise in jackets, but I haven't bought any jackets this year. And in my experience, blazers generally have small shoulder pads, even when the strong shoulder look isn't in season.

crazyone -- haha, I know, I never post pictures....but what I'm asking is if all the blazers have big shoulder pads this year. If so, I'll stop looking! Or, if anyone knows of a place that might sell blazers WITHOUT the shoulder pads (or with minimal ones), I'd love to hear it.

...I CANNOT find one that doesn't make me look like a teeny tiny linebacker! I need help.

I've decided that it's a must-have piece for my age and evolving style. I want to wear it with jeans. I don't have a lot of prerequisites, although I tend to like things with a few interesting details, and it must be a dark neutral. It can even be a casual light jacket with a collar. It will probably need to be in a petite size, and fitted. I seriously looked everywhere last weekend, at lots of nice stores and good labels. I tried on all kinds of blazers. EVERYTHING has shoulder pads that make my already strong shoulder line look all out of proportion. Is that just the deal this year? Big shoulder pads? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, sorry I haven't been around for a while. I was slammed this past month, but I pop in from time to time and offer comments from up here in the peanut gallery.
