I ordered the Sienna Earthies from Zappos and they are AMAZING! If you look at their whole shoe design chart, it really describes how the heels are different from other heels. The arch support actually reaches my arch! I tried them on and couldn't believe it. Thank you Enginemom, from now on they are my brand...

In conclusion, no more walking on the outside on my feet, these shoes have amazing support. The sole isn't like a hill sloping diagonally, it is pretty flat where your heel sits, and then slightly slopes down, so the weight of your foot is still on your heel.

Sara I too have super high arches and I am only comfortable in flat shoes. Because of the rigid foot (high arch) I tend to walk on the outside edge of my foot (since the arch doesn't collapse to support my foot when I walk) and thus roll the foot quite often, and heels just adds too much risk to an already bad situation...LOL

I am learning to walk in wedges though, and that seems to be OK...

I like the Me Toos for flats with lots of foot cushioning.

I have super high arches, also. I can't wear flats. I wore them the other day to stand for hours in the heat at a Crossfit competition, and by the end of the day, my outer ankles to knees was in a lot of pain.
My PT had me buy Dr. Scholl's arch support inserts for my running shoes as well as some of my "dress" shoes. It makes a huge difference. Can you see if something like that could work for you?

I did order some Earthies in that style but had to send them back because the heel was just too high for me so I knew I would never wear them. I have the problem of straps cutting across the top of my foot because of the high arch and these were quite comfortable. However, I almost kept them just because of the arch support and we all know how rare it is to find a heel with arch support!. They were a really nice quality and looked super cute on the foot.

I see that there is a style with a slightly lower, wedge heel and I am pondering getting that one since I was so impressed with the arch support of the other style. http://www.zappos.com/earthies.....?zlfid=111

I second the Earthies suggestion. I ordered some from Zappos to try and the arch was too high for me, so perfect for someone with very high arches. I wish I could wear them - super cute and very comfy otherwise.

Flats are what I wear for the most part because I love them, but grocery store insoles make my feet and back hurt worse. I have the same problem with straps that go right across the top of the arch, most sandals won't even let my foot get 3/4 of the way in because of that. I'm comfortable in heels if they have somewhat of a platform, otherwise most of my weight is on the ball of my foot... and that hurts!

@enginemom: those are very cute! I looked at the other styles of that brand, do you know if Earthies are just an all around good shoe?

I have very high arches as well, but sorry I'm stumped as to recommending brands that are meant for lots of walking and look good with pants and skirts.

I have high arches as well. I wear very high heels (4+ inches, for the most part) and don't have any problems with that. Do you find that you are more comfortable in higher heels? (I often wonder if my high arch makes walking in higher heels easier.) The only problem I generally have with my arches is when a shoe has a strap that cuts right across the top of my foot, where my arch is the highest. In what way are your arches making it difficult for you to find shoes?

Try the Earthies brand sandals. They have a really high arch support and some really cute styles. For example: http://www.zappos.com/earthies-sienna-biscuit

I also have crazy high arches so I feel your pain (literally)

I guess the title says it all, I spent the entire day searching for a perfect pair, with no luck. (I went into Clarks and the lady said "You have ridiculously high arches!")
I want something I can walk in, with a heel, that goes with slacks or a skirt, and I'm not afraid of the slightly unusual.
Thanks!
