I'm not able to post photos yet. But as soon as I can, I will.

I actually sorted and purged not long ago- wow, that was hard!

Thank you for the ideas, everyone. I'm going to go through this site a little bit more and read up on some tips!

Hi Teresa! You sound like a slenderer version of me in some ways (although I have full calves) and I sympathise with your difficulties, including actually being able to shop! I don't have immediate answers but wanted to say hi, and welcome.

Sorting and purging the clothes you have is a great starting point. If you can take pictures of yourself in the items, all the better (either to share here for opinions, or just for yourself to get an objective look). You can start to figure out what does and doesn't work.

Also, try on every combination possible. You might find outfits you didn't know you had. If you go, "this could be an outfit, if only I had X" that is the start of your shopping list of what to look for.

Welcome, Teresa! You will find this is a fantastic place. And in no time at all you'll be feeling more comfortable in your clothes.

If you can post pictures for us to help identify your body type, that would be great; you can take them down right afterwards if you wish.

In the meantime, as a small busted woman I sympathize with your dilemma about tops. From the sounds of it, you might be a slim hourglass rather than a pretty pear (because you have wide shoulders), but even so, it might make sense to read some of Angie's recommendations for rectangles, because there she shares some thoughts about the kinds of necklines that tend to work best for smaller busted women.

Have you checked out Angie's Mom-on-the-Go formulas? They are a great place to start for casual looks that work with jeans as the base. And starting with jeans if an excellent idea. Most of us wear them frequently, and owning at least one terrific pair that make you feel great is the key to confidence!

I'm mostly looking for shirts/tops right now. I like casual with some style. I want tops for weekends that would look good with jeans and/or shorts.

Thank you!!

Hi Teresa! It does look like you have a Pear-shaped body. You can find so many ways to dress your body, you just have to search for the right websites, and right styles.

For a casual look for your pear-shaped body, a structured shirtdress with sleeves is great for downplaying bulges, and flatters most body shapes particularly pear-shaped ones. Look for one in a stiffer fabric like khaki instead of flimsy ones which tend to be more unforgiving of heavy bottoms.

Also, Detailing and volume on top (and minimal at the bottom) works great for a more business casual dressy night out.

Since you're looking to shop online, there is a great website that offers very affordable All quality American-made Women's clothing and accessories.

For summer, I'd say go with a simple tank dress in a bright color like this Royal Blue Tank- Dress http://www.americanloveaffairo.....p/0302.htm that will flatter your broad shoulders and show off your neckline.

Hope this helps!

Welcome! Would love to hear more about what style/function (work, mom on the go etc) you are dressing for. As a SAHM i have a very limited clothing budget and have found our local (in a town of 45,000 population) goodwill to be amazing, however this is an individual thing. Transcona shannon has written a great post about thrifting that was very helpful for me, here is a link to it: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....fting-tips

Hi and welcome! I'm not the best on body shapes but seems like you are describing a pear shape. Check out the Pretty Pear shape suggestions from the blog (you can put Pear in search box and get them to come up too).

What type of clothing are you needing? Work/business casual or dressy or more casual for Mom on the go days? I think knowing that might give us a start. There should be options at a variety of prices out there (even in a small town I would think) so don't give up hope

Are there certain stores nearby that you can choose from?

I'm brand new to this site. I stumbled upon you all while browsing the internet, running search after search, trying to find clothing online which would appeal to me, fit me properly, and that I could afford.

I'm 35 years old. Am 5' 6 1/2", have a long torso, wear a 34 AA bra size, and have fuller thighs and bottom. The distance between my bust and shoulders is small. I can't wear many tops, even in xsmall or petite, because the neckline is far too low.

I can fluctuate from a women's size 6 to size 2 in pants, within the year depending on my workout schedule. I have to keep many sizes in my closet. My upper body is thin, but my shoulders are pretty broad; I was told my shoulders are size 8. My arms are long and thin. My calves are very thin. My feet have little arch and I wear size 9. Heels are usually very uncomfortable and I can't typically wear them.

I describe myself as being skinny, yet curvy (on my lower half). The size of my thighs and bottom is what mostly stops me from fitting into smaller sizes.

I have a terrible time clothes shopping. Women's clothing usually is too big overall and is too conservative for my taste. I usually have to shop in the Juniors section, but that clothing can be revealing and the style too youthful.

I used to try to wear padded bras to help make me look more proportionate, but I'm so small busted, I can't find bras to fit well either, and then they just move all the time and ate uncomfortable and can look unnatural.

I guess what I want is to just be comfortable and still love the clothes I'm wearing. There isn't much selection in my area, however. I live in a small Kansas town. Shopping via internet would give me selection, but I hesitate because of fit issues. I also cannot afford to spend much; I'm a single Mom of two.

If anyone has any ideas or recommendations, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks!!
